Marvel actor reveals he was homeless at 17 and slept on the streets.
Actor Tom Hiddleston, who had previously asked for assistance from fans, later shared a positive update after receiving support from social services.
Marvel actor Jack Veal revealed he is struggling with homelessness at 17-years-old.
The British actor who portrayed the younger version of Tom Hiddleston's character Loki in the Disney+ series "Loki" in the first season, revealed in a TikTok video posted on Monday that he has been homeless and is currently residing in a trailer in London after leaving home due to alleged abuse.
At the start of the video, Veal introduced himself as a renowned actor, stating that he is 17 years old and currently homeless.
He continued, "I haven't shared much about my personal life, but I believe it's time to come clean. Although I won't go into great detail, I was subjected to physical and emotional abuse."
"I had a challenging upbringing," he stated. "I grapple with mental health issues, including autism, ADHD, and am undergoing evaluation for bipolar and psychosis."
"My granddad's terminal illness prevents me from staying at my grandparents'. I am homeless and require assistance."
Veal stated that he reached out to social services for aid, detailed his circumstances, but was ultimately "rejected" assistance.
"He exclaimed, 'I am desperate! I've been sleeping in the streets.'"
As a personal trainer, Veal struggles to get to work every day because he is currently sleeping in an unsafe trailer that is two hours away from his job, with smashed-in windows.
"Life is hard," he said. "At the moment, I have nothing else. I am on my knees begging for you guys to just share this, do something, spread the message of how the government are treating kids."
The actor pulled wooden boards aside to reveal the broken windows of the trailer, noting that "it does get chilly, but I cope."
Veal pointed out that the trailer lacks electricity and showed off the portable charger he uses for power.
In the video's conclusion, Veal implored his followers to assist him in spreading awareness about his challenging circumstances.
"He requested that the video be shared with as many people as possible, emphasizing that there was no need to compensate him and that he didn't require anything in return."
"I'll continue to put more stuff out, but please, I need help," Veal said.
TikTok users responded to Veal's post with supportive comments, offering advice on shelter and support options, sharing their personal experiences with homelessness, and extending offers for him to stay in their spare bedrooms.
In a follow-up video shared later on Monday, Veal was seen walking to work as he thanked his fans, noting that he was going to be able to sleep at a friend's place for the night due to their help. He also expressed his gratitude that fans had offered to shelter him in their homes, but explained that "the objective here is to get help from the people who are meant to provide it — social services."
""I need stability in my life because if I keep hopping from place to place, there will never be any stability," he said."
On Tuesday, Veal shared a video where he stated that he was returning to his trailer after spending the night at his friend's house, which was "nice and warm."
"Sleeping in a trailer tonight," he said. "The weather is getting colder and things are becoming more challenging. I'm pushing social services for help, but there's no assurance of a solution."
On Tuesday, Veal shared a video where he was crying but smiling, revealing that there had been a positive update regarding his ordeal.
"I received a call from social services requesting a meeting with me tomorrow to discuss the possibility of placing me in foster care and providing me with support and accommodations," he stated. "I am grateful for the efforts you have made, and it has greatly assisted me. Now, action is being taken."
"They're actually doing something, so God bless you all," Veal said as he became emotional. "I'll let you know how the meeting goes, and there's no promises, but this is the first time they've considered me for accommodation, so thank you. Thank you so much. I love you all."
Planet Chronicle Digital has reached out to Veal for comment.
Veal, in addition to his role in "Loki," has also appeared in TV series such as "The End of the F***ing World," "Call the Midwife," and "Tin Cup," as well as in movies like "The Corrupted" and "Come Away." He was most recently seen in the 2022 Amazon Prime Video show "The Peripheral," starring Chloë Grace Moretz.
