Lainey Wilson, star of 'Yellowstone,' admits to impersonating Miley Cyrus for years, stating that the singer inspired her.
At a D23 event on Sunday, Miley Cyrus became the youngest Disney Legend in history.
During her teenage years, Lainey Wilson portrayed Miley Cyrus' renowned Disney character, Hannah Montana, for a considerable period.
In a 2021 interview with Taste of Country, the singer revealed that they were successful in school while in high school.
"One day I would be playing at a 3-year-old's birthday party and later that day, I would be playing at a nursing home, so I had to adjust to my audience." - Lainey, as told to People magazine. "I was doing three or four parties a weekend and participating in fairs and festivals. My high school friends were going to LSU football games and having a great time. I never felt like I was missing out. I felt like I was accomplishing something by attending these events."
On Sunday, the actress who starred in "Yellowstone" had a "full circle moment" when she honored Cyrus as a Disney Legend at a D23 event in Anaheim, California. Cyrus, who played Hannah Montana on the hit sitcom from 2006 to 2011, made history as the youngest person to ever be named a Disney Legend.
"Lainey Wilson, who opened for me as Hannah Montana, was my first job. I took my portable sound system, wig, and 15 tracks I learned from back to back and impersonated Hannah Montana at birthday parties, fairs, and festivals."
"I was inspired by you to believe in myself and that I could be an ordinary girl living in an extraordinary world," she said. "As a Hannah Montana fan, I would like to dedicate this song to you."
Onstage, Cyrus and Wilson hugged after performing the "Hannah Montana" theme song, "Best of Both Worlds."
"Cyrus revealed a Disney legend secret during her acceptance speech, stating that she is the one who shares what people are not supposed to know. She added that legends, including herself, get scared, but the difference is that they do it anyway. Cyrus encouraged her audience to embrace their fear and do it anyway, emphasizing that it is legendary to be afraid and still push through."
Wilson was drawn to that same go-getter attitude during the early years of her career.
"You inspired me to believe in myself. That I, too, could be an ordinary girl living in an extraordinary world." — Lainey Wilson on Miley Cyrus
"I was fortunate enough to experience the best of both worlds. I got to perform as Hannah Montana on flat bed trailers at birthday parties and then pay tribute to the legend herself. That was truly a full circle moment," Wilson wrote on Instagram after the event. "@mileycyrus, you are an inspiration to me. Thank you for allowing me to pay tribute to you. I am still in awe of last night's experience."
This year, Wilson discussed her 13-year career in music and the difficulties she has encountered with Planet Chronicle Digital.
"The rejection only made me want it more, and I am stubborn. If you could speak with my parents, you would understand why I am the way I am," she stated. "Both of them are determined once they have made up their minds, and I have always been determined to achieve this goal."
Over a decade ago, the "Yellowstone" actress left her small Louisiana town with a population of around 200 people and relocated to Nashville in pursuit of her dream of becoming a successful country music artist. Recently, in February, Wilson received her first Grammy award.
When you take a step back and consider the bigger picture, it's crucial to reflect on the purpose and significance of our actions. We must ask ourselves, 'Why am I doing this?' and 'What is the ultimate goal?'
