Khloé Kardashian criticizes LA mayor, labeling her a "joke" amid California wildfires.
Thousands of homes are being destroyed by the ongoing California wildfires.
Los Angeles officials are facing criticism from Khloé Kardashian over the California wildfires that have caused thousands of people to evacuate their homes and left many families displaced.
On Friday, "The Kardashians" star posted a video of a Fox 11 interview where Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley criticized Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for her handling of the city.
Kardashian, who evacuated her Hidden Hills home on Friday, posted a screenshot from the clip on her Instagram story and wrote, "I support you, Chief Crowley! You spoke the truth and had tears in your eyes because you didn't want to say it, but it was the truth!"
"Thank you for being honest," she added. "Mayor Bass, you are a joke!!!!"
In the interview Kardashian participated in, Crowley mentioned the budget cuts that the mayor had approved prior to the fires breaking out.
Crowley confirmed on KTTV Friday that Mayor Bass did not meet the city's expectations.
"Any budget cut will affect our ability to provide service," Crowley stated. "This is a fact. If there's a budget cut, we have to take from other areas. What does that mean? It means that certain tasks won't be completed or there will be delays."
A source revealed that after the comments were made, Crowley was "mandated" to meet with Bass to discuss her remarks. The mayor was "unhappy" about it, the source added.
Neither Kardashian's nor Mayor Bass's representatives responded to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
The backlash from celebrities against California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles officials for their inadequate preparation and response to the wildfires in the city has intensified since the fires began on Tuesday.
On "Fox And Friends" Saturday, Patricia Heaton stated that the ball was dropped in terms of prevention.
"The city has been devastated and the fires continue, leaving Heaton frustrated as he believes a lot could have been done to prevent this from happening in Los Angeles for the past 40 years. The responsibility for this has been dropped multiple times."
As the Palisades Fire burned in Los Angeles, Sarah Michelle Gellar scolded Bass on Tuesday.
Gellar wrote on her Instagram story, "City of LA, you want everyone to evacuate but there's complete gridlock and no traffic cops on the roads to help."
The founder and CEO of The Agency, a real estate brokerage firm primarily based in Southern California who also starred on Netflix's "Buying Beverly Hills," expressed disappointment in the California government's inadequate preparation before the fires, according to a statement made to Planet Chronicle Digital on Thursday.
"California, being one of the largest economies in the world and home to the second-largest city in the country, Los Angeles, our taxes are the highest-paying in the country," Umansky stated.
"Although we were unprepared, our government's lack of preparation was the main cause of the accident. We failed to clear the brush and didn't have enough water in the fire hydrants. We were not adequately prepared, and we did not allocate the necessary funds."
On "Jesse Watters Primetime" Thursday, Justine Batemen stated that LA officials have not met the expectations of the city's residents and should step down.
Justine Bateman on CA fires: "If you're running a city, you need to take care of the basics."
"To ensure that fire and police departments are adequately funded, Bateman emphasized the importance of taking care of the basics when running a city or state. If leaders fail to address problems that arise, they are deemed useless and have destroyed people's lives."
