Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner have decided to forgo parenting classes, signifying a step closer to finalizing their divorce.
In May 2023, Costner's ex-wife filed for divorce.
Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner requested the court to waive parenting classes as they progress towards finalizing their divorce.
The Santa Barbara County Court waived the P.E.A.C.E. parenting class requirement for Costner and Baumgartner, 69 and 49 respectively, who have reached a Marital Settlement Agreement resolving their custody issues, according to a court document obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital.
Judge Thomas Anderle has not yet signed the Judgment of Dissolution, but sources told Planet Chronicle Digital that he plans to do so in the next week.
The judgment will be signed and entered, resulting in the divorce of the parties. However, due to confidentiality, the terms of the settlement will not be disclosed in the judgment.
In May 2023, Baumgartner filed for divorce, and the couple reached a settlement agreement in September. However, in California, a six-month waiting period is necessary before a divorce can be finalized.
The divorce between "Yellowstone" star Kevin Costner and purse designer Lisa Baumgartner began on a bitter tone, with Baumgartner taking Costner to court over child support and the validity of their prenuptial agreement.
Initially, Baumgartner requested $248,000 in monthly child support for their three children, but a judge set a temporary monthly sum of $129,755 in July. Later, the judge ruled that Costner would actually be responsible for $63,209 in monthly child support payments.
Prior to the child custody dispute, Costner had proposed to pay $75,000 monthly.
The actor is solely responsible for the children's health care, private school tuition, extracurricular activities, and the couple's oldest son's car expenses. Baumgartner and Costner share three children: Cayden, Hayes, and Grace.
"Judge Anderle wrote in his decision that spousal support exceeding $63,209 per month is actually disguised support. Christine will have the chance to argue for her entitlement to spousal support in court."
The estranged couple decided to move their argument over the prenup out of court after Baumgartner lost his child support battle.
Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce on May 1, citing April 11 as the date of separation, according to documents obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital.
Before the ex-couple reached a settlement agreement, Costner exclusively told Planet Chronicle Digital that their divorce battle had no winners.
"When you spend a long time with someone, there is no winner in life. It's a big, crazy thing that unravels quickly. One moment you feel invincible, and the next you realize how vulnerable you are."
Costner was confident that he and Baumgartner would work out their co-parenting plan. "She's an amazing mom," he said. "We'll figure it out and share. We just need to take some time to heal now."
