Kevin Bacon criticized for 'tone deaf' Veterans Day message featuring Alec Baldwin.
Alec Baldwin, a star in the TV show 'Rust,' faced criticism for an "out of touch" social media post honoring members of the United States Armed Forces.
Alec Baldwin faced criticism for his "unusual" Veterans Day tribute that included Kevin Bacon.
"Brave soldiers everywhere are honored," Baldwin captioned an image of Bacon portraying Lieutenant Colonel Michael Strobl from the 2009 HBO historical drama, "Taking Chance."
On Veterans Day, Baldwin faced criticism for his "tone deaf" decision to post about the fallen soldier on social media.
One user in the comments section of Baldwin's Instagram post questioned, "Couldn't you have found a real soldier stock photo with respect?"
Another follower shared a photo of a real vet proudly serving our country.
"An actor playing a Marine in a photo is extremely strange, according to one user. It gives off an out-of-touch and tone-deaf vibe."
"Why do you hate Kevin Bacon? This doesn't make sense. Do you hate soldiers?" another follower inquired.
"The photo selection was not suitable. We're celebrating veterans, not actors portraying them," one commentator remarked.
A number of people defended Baldwin and highlighted the importance of the Ross Katz-directed film, which received several awards, including a Golden Globe for best actor in a miniseries or a motion picture made for television and a Screen Actors Guild award for Bacon.
On Veterans Day, Hollywood stars such as Dennis Quaid and Trace Adkins paid tribute to our military.
One fan praised the film "Taking Chance with Kevin Bacon," calling it a "very well done, critically acclaimed film."
Another follower stated that Taking Chance is one of the most beautiful movies they have ever watched. The film is a gentle and loving tribute to the marines and their service, and sacrifice. It consistently brings them to tears whenever they watch it. They thanked the person for reminding them about it and expressed their intention to watch it again this evening.
One user commented on the post, joking about the close connection between the post and US service members.
The Great Footloose Battle of 1984 was won by Kevin single-handedly saving the town of Bomont, UT. You guys are some haters! Semper Plié!!!
Baldwin's family reality TV show, "The Baldwins," will debut on TLC in 2025, but representatives for Baldwin did not immediately respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria have five daughters and four sons, while he also has a daughter, Ireland, with ex-wife Kim Basinger. Last year, Ireland gave birth to a baby girl, making Baldwin a first-time grandfather.
This week, the Emmy-winning actor will release his four-year film, "Rust," which has been met with controversy.
In July, a New Mexico judge dismissed the involuntary manslaughter case against Baldwin for the fatal, on-set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins after ruling that the prosecution concealed evidence from his legal team.
If convicted of Hutchins' October 2021 death, Baldwin could have faced up to 18 months in prison. "Rust" premieres on the big screen at the Camerimage Festival in Poland on Nov. 16.
