Kelly Clarkson's children frequently remind her not to date anyone else following her divorce from their father.
Kelly Clarkson and ex-husband Brandon Blackstock have children River, 10, and Remington, 8.
Kelly Clarkson's kids, River and Remington, are strongly attached to their father, Brandon Blackstock, and can't imagine their mother being with anyone else.
In a recent radio interview on KOST 103.5, Clarkson confessed that her kids have suggested the possibility of her dating since her divorce from Blackstock was finalized in 2022.
"Both my kids are not interested in the idea of me being with someone else and they frequently bring it up. 'Please, we don't want you to be with anybody else,' they say. They're young, so it's difficult to imagine their mom with anyone other than their dad," the singer-songwriter confessed.
Clarkson revealed that she discussed with her children the importance of loving her as well.
She stated that she was not seeking a romantic partner for Christmas, but she found the idea of hope and the magic of Christmas to be beautiful and enchanting, and she appreciated the power of imagination.
"Both my kids are not [into it and] they constantly bring it up. ‘Please, we don’t want you to be with anybody else.'" — Kelly Clarkson
The host of the television show stated that she is currently "very noncommittal" and continues to draw in men who desire a serious relationship immediately.
"Clarkson stated that she feels like she attracts individuals who are immediately committed and desire an exclusive relationship. However, she clarified that she does not intend to kiss multiple people, but rather, she is currently noncommittal due to having young children. She also shared with her daughter that when she is ready, it is acceptable for her to explore romantic relationships."
In May 2006, during a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards, Clarkson first crossed paths with Blackstock. The following year, Starstruck, founded in 1988 by Narvel Blackstock, began representing Clarkson.
Blackstock was married to Melissa Ashforth at the time, and they have a daughter, Savannah, and a son, Seth. However, they split up in 2012.
Clarkson and Blackstock reunited at the Super Bowl in 2012 and started dating soon after. They got engaged in December 2012 and got married in October 2013.
In June 2020, Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, citing "irreconcilable differences." The split quickly turned acrimonious with the two engaging in a custody dispute over River and Remy.
Clarkson was granted primary physical custody of their two children, while they share legal custody. A judge later mandated Clarkson to pay Blackstock nearly $200,000 monthly in spousal and child support.
In 2022, the former couple's two-year battle over ownership of their Montana ranch ended with a judge ordering that Blackstock be given a 5.12% stake in the property, worth $908,800 of its total $17,750,000 value.
In March 2022, Clarkson and Blackstock finalized their divorce. A month later, Blackstock bought his own Montana ranch and relocated from Clarkson's property in June 2022.
