Kathie Lee Gifford declined the offer for 'Golden Bachelorette': "Not enough time for hot tub before they want you in it."
A new series, 'The Baxters,' features Kathie Lee Gifford and her daughter Cassidy.
"The Golden Bachelorette" will not see Kathie Lee Gifford handing out roses.
Hoda Kotb, Gifford's former "Today" co-host, suggested her for a dating show, but when asked about it by Planet Chronicle Digital, she stated she has no interest.
"No, thank God," she said.
Gifford stated, "When you enter a hot tub, you risk getting diseases. Similarly, kissing someone without knowing where their lips have been is foolish. Therefore, it's essential to establish trust before allowing someone to put you in a hot tub."
"I discussed the idea with the producers, and they acknowledged that it would result in a distinct show if I executed it. I responded with a noncommittal 'Uhhh yeah!' Therefore, I don't anticipate it occurring."
Gifford stated that her son, Cody, would completely agree with the idea.
Kathie Lee Gifford explains why she won't participate in "The Golden Bachelorette."
Cassidy Gifford, who was present during the interview, stated that seeing her mother on "The Golden Bachelorette" is a definite "no" for her, but she acknowledged that she has no power over her mother's choices.
Though they share no scenes, the mother-daughter duo are featured in the upcoming Amazon series, "The Baxters."
The series, based on Karen Kingsbury's bestselling book series, follows the faith-based journeys of the Baxter family, with Roma Downey starring and producing.
Downey and Gifford have been close friends since their time together on "Touched By an Angel," and the proud mom was thrilled about her daughter collaborating with Gifford.
"Gifford described Downey as one of the world's great special people and expressed excitement about her working with Cass. He also mentioned his friendship with Karen Kingsbury, who lives in Tennessee and is known for being gentle and kind."
Gifford agreed with Cassidy's statement that "she is an actual angel," adding a laugh.
"Gifford stated, "The focus was on Cass collaborating with the women. Then, when I was asked to dive in, I believe they quickly wrote something for me because I wasn't trying to overshadow anyone.""
Cassidy felt "very similar" to her character, so she didn't need to prepare much, except for reading the books and trying to incorporate more of herself into the areas that were different.
Karen and Roma allowed me a lot of freedom to interpret the material, which was close to what it was. As a result, it wasn't difficult, and it was enjoyable because it felt authentic to me.
Cassidy Gifford, daughter of Kathie Lee Gifford, discusses her bond with her character in 'The Baxters.'
"Cassidy stated that they allowed a lot of room for improvisation as long as it didn't stray too far from the source material."
Cassidy has collaborated with her mom on previous projects and received valuable guidance from Gifford regarding her career.
No matter what someone else does, being the kindest and hardest working is what truly matters. Treating people well will carry you through your career, life, and any aspect of your life.
Kathie Lee Gifford and her daughter discuss their experience collaborating with Roma Downey on 'The Baxters'.
"If you are both kind and hardworking, you consistently show up and respect others' time. My parents always emphasized that being five minutes early is equivalent to being 15 minutes late, which means that we should always be mindful of our actions and not overestimate our abilities. It's crucial to remember that once we think we've achieved success, we must remain humble and continue to work hard."
Gifford protested, stating that she had never referred to anyone as "prettier," exclaiming, "I'm her mother, I apologize!"
But she agreed with kindness being key to success.
Gifford stated that success often comes at the expense of others, and this is prevalent in the entertainment industry. However, he believes that achieving success through the support of others is not worth it.
"Our faith has always inspired us to follow Jesus as our role model, who embodied perfection, mercy, and love in every aspect of his life."
Gifford avoids giving advice to Cassidy about marriage and parenting.
In 2020, Cassidy married Ben Wierda in an intimate setting in his backyard in Michigan. The couple welcomed a baby boy, Finn, in 2023. Her brother, Cody, married Erika Brown in 2020 and has two sons, Frank, named after his dad, and Ford, named after Gifford's husband, Frank Gifford.
"Gifford stated that Wierda is a natural at asking questions, which is why he doesn't ask me much about anything. He added that Wierda is a wonderful guy."
Kathie Lee Gifford reveals the reason behind not providing marriage advice to her children.
Gifford remembered knowing the Wierda family before they became romantically involved.
"I had a sense that they would end up together. We used to predict that we'd see them playing together and out in the water, goofing off or something. 'Those two are going to get married. Those two are gonna get married.' There's no doubt about it. And darned if they didn't."
During her pregnancies, Gifford prayed for her children's spouses because she believed it was a crucial decision that children made.
But she vowed not to butt in after a certain age.
"I stated that I would not speak to them after they turned 21 because I had raised them. They were well-versed in right and wrong, good and evil. They were compassionate and intelligent individuals with their own beliefs and spiritual journey. I never attempted to mold my children into a specific mold. If you want to harm them, try to impose your beliefs on them."
Prime Video will exclusively release "The Baxters" on March 28.
