Josh Brolin openly discusses his fondness for nicotine pouches.
On Marc Maron's "WTF" podcast, Brolin, 56, confessed that although he stopped chewing tobacco, he still uses pouches and they are scattered throughout his home.
He said, "My wife would hear this in the middle of the night," before mimicking a chewing noise. "I don't even know I'm doing it. I'm asleep. I have a pouch in my lip, and I'm not f---ing lying — 24 hours a day."
"I began removing them from the bed and placing them on the nightstand."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nicotine pouches consist of a powder that includes nicotine, flavorings, and other substances. When the powder is dissolved in the mouth, nicotine is absorbed through the gums and mouth lining.
He was concerned that his kids might pick up the discarded pouches but thought it could be a valuable learning experience.

"He said, "If my daughter puts it in her mouth, she'll get sick. Instead of stopping, I try to teach them not to do that.""
"Avoid Daddy's crap," Maron quipped.
"Daddy needs that," Brolin added.
Brolin responded to Maron's inquiry about the pouches potentially harming him by saying "no."
In his upcoming memoir, "From Under the Truck," Brolin shares some of his struggles with addiction. He initially used nicotine lozenges but later switched to pouches after experiencing negative side effects.
"Brolin stated that the lozenges tasted like gasoline and had a punch to them. He used to keep them between his gum and tooth line, but they resulted in seven cavities."
He found himself using questionable pouches while filming in the Middle East recently.
In Jordan, a man approached me and said, "I have some," holding a packet with a skull and crossbones on top, which contained 40 milligrams. I responded, "I can't do that."
"One day, I start running out of tins and realize I have four or five left. I have his thing in my pocket and had gone to the gym. I'm running back from the gym."
Brolin opted to use the provided pouches instead of his own to conserve them.
"I put the thing in my mouth for no more than 20 seconds, and I swear to God on my kids, and I had to cancel dinner that night. I was literally going insane. It was insane."
