Jordan Knight, a member of the New Kids on the Block, shares his secrets to staying fit in his middle age.
Jordan Knight, 54, is part of the New Kids on the Block's Magic Summer 2024 tour.
Jordan Knight of New Kids on the Block is thrilled to tour with his band once again, and he is able to enjoy the experience more deeply than ever before.
During the Magic Summer 2024 tour, the band members maintain their health through various methods, including diet, ice baths, and strength training. Mark Wahlberg was a band member from 1984 to 1985.
"Knight stated, "We have to pace ourselves as it's over 100 degrees today and we're performing. Additionally, we need to watch what we eat to maintain our appearance, stay slim, and stay healthy.""
The band members "do not party" and "maintain a healthy lifestyle" while on tour, with each member following a unique health regimen.
"They're doing ice baths during the day to stay cool, like Joe and Donnie. I have a little regimen I do before I perform, including stretching and calisthenics."
Knight stated that the New Kids on the Block members are maintaining their dietary habits while on tour.
""Instead of burgers, fries, and the like, I prefer an egg white omelet with chicken, broccoli, and various vegetables for breakfast," he stated."
Knight stated, "We definitely prioritize self-care. It's crucial to do so due to the demanding schedule."
Knight stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that their current tour differs from their rise to fame in the 1990s.
Knight remarked that everyone is older now, and they are wiser and smarter, with the New Kids On The Block delivering a better show than they did before.
Knight recounted the excitement and energy of their early shows, stating, "Our performances were highly anticipated and the fans were passionate and uninhibited in their enthusiasm for us. We were a group of energetic and youthful performers."
"Knight stated, "We are now more appreciative of what we have and have become better at putting together a show. We soak in the audience more and put more thought into creating the show, ensuring great moments. We are not afraid to edit and add elements to make the show more surgical in its execution.""
The New Kids On The Block are currently touring the United States with shows through August, recreating their 1990 tour.
Paula Abdul and D.J. Jazzy Jeff are also part of the tour.
Knight stated that it's enjoyable when Abdul joins the tour, as it's amusing to hear her sing on stage while getting dressed in the dressing room.
He continued, "It's enjoyable to listen to those songs once more. We understand the appeal of attending concerts and witnessing artists perform iconic, popular hits."
"It's like listening to our music and feeling hyped up and pumped up on stage, just like how that song from the past still stands the test of time."
The disbandment of The New Kids On The Block in 1994 led to their eventual reunion as a group in the early 2000s. Knight believes that this experience has made them stronger 30 years later.
"Disbanding helped us stay together. We disbanded in '94 and didn't come back together until late 2007, when we started making new music. So I think that time off really helped us to stay together in our chronically just pissed off at each other, rage and like a lingering irritation with each other," Knight said. "I think taking that time off, discovering who we were, going down different avenues and then kind of realizing, like, ‘wow, we had something really special.’"
Knight believes that the time off allowed them to appreciate the group's uniqueness.
