Johnny Depp informed his large online following that AI tried to exploit his image to defraud his fans.
Before cautioning against illegal schemes on the internet, "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor wished his fans a "Happy New Year" on social media.
It has been reported that online scammers are increasing their attempts to deceive my fans and supporters, as stated by Depp in a post shared with his nearly 29 million followers on Instagram.
"Scammers may use AI to impersonate me and my team, but we will never ask for money or personal information."
Depp stated that he and his team are actively working to combat illegal schemes. He emphasized that he does not offer paid meetings, phone calls, club memberships, or fan cards through his official social media accounts.
Sweeney Todd, the star of the musical, has stated that he does not engage with his fans online through social media.
Depp wrote that if someone asks for money for a meeting, call, membership, or fan card, it is a scam.
"No one from my team, agent, family, or myself will ever contact you seeking money or personal information."
He posted a typed copy of his note online with an initial of JD at the end.
