John Mulaney undergoes random drug tests initiated by Olivia Munn.
Earlier this year, Munn disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis.
Olivia Munn, who became pregnant, admittedly "barely knew" John Mulaney, the father of her child, as they lived on opposite sides of the country and spoke sparingly. Despite this, she knew he was committed to co-parenting and was a recovering addict recently out of rehab.
"In 2021, Munn revealed to GQ that their relationship was not dating. She stated, "I barely knew him." However, after she got pregnant, Mulaney expressed his desire to be involved in the child's life. He said, "It wasn't necessarily about being married and living together, but it was about being involved in some way.""
In September 2020, Mulaney was admitted to rehab for drug addiction. He and his wife, Anna Marie Tendler, separated shortly after, and he relapsed three months later.
"Munn described her husband's sobriety journey after leaving rehab for the second time as "like watching a man in a tsunami." She explained, "I was observing someone newly sober, teetering on the edge, and I didn't know him well enough to provide support.""
""I'm not sure what's going on with this guy, but when I see him at the Troubadour, he's amazing," Munn admitted."
Munn recounted Mulaney's fears of relapsing, despite the baby news not being a contributing factor. "That's what made him seem light and happy. He was really excited to tell his parents," Munn said.
In the sixth month of Munn's pregnancy, she decided to take a more active role in his sobriety journey by staging a small intervention.
They decided that Munn would give him random drug tests, which has been ongoing throughout their relationship, which became more official two months before the birth of their son. Mulaney said that getting drug tested was like a relief for him. He liked being able to not have that be a question in anyone's mind. He felt confident about peeing in that cup, as it meant he was walking the walk.
In 2023, Munn underwent surgeries for breast cancer, including a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy, and Mulaney has been there for her throughout.

The couple, in addition to their nearly 3-year-old son Malcom, welcomed a daughter Méi June in September through surrogacy.
