Jim Carrey stepped away from Hollywood to achieve privacy.
Recently, the actor who portrayed Sonic the Hedgehog in the movie 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' confessed that his comeback was driven by financial necessity.
Even Jim Carrey can tire of Jim Carrey.
The actor is currently promoting his new movie, "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," which is set to be released in theaters. During his press tour, Carrey disclosed that his time away from Hollywood was intended to provide the public with a respite from his image.
He told E! News that he values both getting away from people and being respected for his privacy.
"Some individuals crave constant attention, while I prefer privacy, so I avoid them."
In 2022, Carrey surprised Kit Hoover of Access Hollywood when he announced his plans to retire after the second "Hedgehog" movie. He admitted that he was "pretty serious" about leaving, stating, "I feel like - and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say - I have enough. I've done enough. I am enough."
He has returned and is now able to view the entertainment industry with a fresh perspective.
The actor confessed that his financial difficulties led him to return to acting.
"I returned to this universe because I enjoy playing a genius, even though it's a bit of a stretch," he said to The Associated Press last week. "I bought a lot of things and need the money, honestly," he added. Additionally, Carrey expressed his willingness to take on new roles, stating, "Yes, something will definitely happen."
"I came back to this universe because, first of all, I get to play a genius. Which is a bit of a stretch…I bought a lot of stuff and I need the money, frankly." — Jim Carrey on his retirement reprieve
During the holiday season, Carrey recognizes that his face will be seen on screens worldwide, but he appreciates the uniqueness of the situation.
Every year when 'The Grinch' is shown, I think, "Families will be spending time together and when the kids grow up, they'll realize how cool he is," and people will say, "Wow, that guy is amazing!"
The release date for "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" is on Friday, Dec. 20.
