Three years ago, I began my dream project, as shared by the "Fantastic Four" actor on Instagram with a brief video of a home renovation.
"I bought my parents a house, which was extra special because it was my grandparent's house that my father grew up in," she revealed.
Alba's father, Mark, was raised by her grandparents, who were immigrants from Mexico, in Claremont, California, a 40-minute drive east of Los Angeles.
"Alba explained in a YouTube video that her grandfather, who came from a different background, saw his home as a symbol of his success in providing opportunities for his children that they couldn't find in other neighborhoods and cities."
Alba shared in her Instagram post that after her grandfather passed away, her parents planned to sell the house to pay for her grandmother's medical bills. In her YouTube video, she elaborated on her grandmother's condition, stating that she requires constant care.

"I pretended to help them flip the house before selling it, but in reality, I had planned to buy it for them. Watching the trailer back fills me with many emotions after keeping a big secret, surprising my parents, and working hard to make the house perfect for months."
I can't believe my grandfather passed away. She wrote about him, expressing how much she loves and misses him.
In the YouTube video, Alba reveals her surprise to her parents.
Josh, the actress's brother, can be heard saying, "Dad is shaking right now, you should know, Jessica," as the family gathers for a hug.
"Mark tearfully told his daughter, "[Your grandfather] would be proud of you Jessica," as he was so proud of her."
"Despite Grandpa's passing, his legacy remains in this house," Alba stated in the video. "I attempted to incorporate Grandpa's presence throughout the house."
Alba, the founder of The Honest Company, has recently started a renovation series with Lizzy Mathis. The show focuses on the two women renovating homes for parents whose spaces don't meet their needs. Prior to the television show, Alba renovated her grandparents' home.
