Jennifer Garner writes an emotional ode to her cherished canine companion.
Nine-year-old golden retriever named Birdie is the family pet.
Birdie, the cherished dog of Jennifer Garner and her family, has passed away.
On Wednesday, Garner posted a heartfelt tribute to the family pet on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of the dog.
"Although it may seem irrational to grieve for a pet in the face of the world, since we have introduced Birdie to you all, it is only right to inform you of her passing," the "Deadpool & Wolverine" actor stated.
On Thursday, Birdie informed us that she was not feeling well (a well-known food enthusiast, Birdie never missed a meal). We were taken aback to discover that not only was she unwell, but she was also near the end of her life.
Violet Affleck, their oldest child, was believed to have hung on until their person returned from college, according to Garner, so that they could pet her soft ears together and thank her for being the world's best dog.
Birdie enjoyed being read to and often found herself in her own cooking series on Instagram.
"Birdie the Doggie is the angel girl she was born to play, and it's a gift to love and be loved by such a creature," the "Alias" star concluded.
Garner and Birdie were showcased on the YouTube channel WeRateDogs, discussing their dog's upcoming ninth birthday and their role as a therapy dog at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
"The 52-year-old said, "She wants to read some new books for kids. Speaking of kids, Birdie is a therapy dog. She just got a promotion to work at Children's Hospital L.A. and is excited to have her first time at the hospital before she turns nine.""
Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel's mom, who is also ex-husband Ben Affleck, shared the story of their family's decision to get a dog.
When Violet was two, she decided she needed her own dog, but Garner said she'd have to wait until she was 10. Despite being only two at the time, Violet didn't forget about her desire for a dog and now, we have Birdie.
Garner’s famous friends shared their condolences in the comments.
Jennifer Aniston wrote: "Oh Jen, I'm so sorry. Sending so much love."
Ina Garten, her chef pal, wrote, "Oh Jennifer, I'm heartbroken for you!!! She was the best buddy and always up for an adventure with all of you. Sending my love to you and the kids. I'm so glad they're home with you now. Birdie will be eating turkey in heaven."
Rita Wilson expressed her apologies, "So sorry!!!! They’re family," accompanied by a broken heart emoji.
