Jelly Roll addresses concerns about weight loss impacting his career.
In the past year, Jelly Roll has shed 100 pounds.
Despite his fear of losing momentum in the industry, Jelly Roll asserts that his success will not be determined by his weight.
A Nashville, Tennessee native who has recently started a public weight loss journey believes that being open about losing weight won't affect his fame.
"He wore it for so long and wanted to be honest about his struggles with it publicly, as he told wife Bunnie Xo on her "Dumb Blonde" podcast, which was released on Monday."
"According to the "Save Me" singer, who has shed 100 pounds, people who reach a similar size and then lose weight often feel ashamed. They may hide and try to regain the weight, but when they re-emerge, they struggle to interact with others due to their altered appearance or feelings. To cope, they must discover a new way of navigating the world."
Jason Bradley DeFord, also known as Jelly Roll, took a different approach by wanting to share his experience in front of a larger audience. He expressed that he wanted to discuss it openly and frequently, which he does in his daily vlogs.
"I consistently put effort into bringing people along with me."
Jelly Roll referenced a previous discussion with his wife during which she expressed concern about the "fat effect" and how many Hollywood stars who have lost a significant amount of weight have not been successful in their careers.
"Jelly Roll declared, "I want the world to recognize that my success was not due to my weight, but despite it. I achieved this level of success while carrying 550 pounds, which is unbelievable.""
Jelly Roll feels that his struggle with food is more challenging than unhealthy habits, as he believes that real addicts should not be compared to those struggling with food addiction.
"I didn't become successful because of my weight, I became successful in spite of it." — Jelly Roll
"However, I've witnessed individuals battle for their existence in their own bodies. You understand what I'm referring to, right? And as I pondered, I came to the realization that the patterns I had developed towards drugs or alcohol were minor in comparison to the persistent negative pattern I had established with food."
Jelly Roll has set a new goal for himself: becoming a cover model. He told his wife, "I wanna be on the cover of ‘Men’s Health' by March of 2026," and she shared in his excitement. His new goal is to have a massive transformation.
