Jay-Z is accused of improperly revealing his rape accuser's identity.
In 2000, a sexual assault lawsuit was filed against Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Jay-Z, accusing them of rape at a VMA afterparty.
According to Tony Buzbee, the lawyer of the woman suing Jay-Z for rape, Jay-Z took "inappropriate" steps to identify her.
On Monday, Jay-Z and his legal team filed a letter requesting the identity of the woman who accused the rapper of raping her when she was 13 years old, according to Planet Chronicle Digital's previous confirmation. However, the woman's lawyer countered, stating that the letter was actually used as a disguise for "press releases" rather than legal filings.
According to Buzbee, who filed a letter on December 10, the defendant Carter submitted a separate filing that was procedurally improper and substantively deficient in order to provide a pretext for defense counsel to submit two "letter briefs" to the Court on December 9 and 10.
These "letter briefs" are nothing more than a defamation disguised as litigation privilege.
The letter briefs have no connection to the only pending issue before the Court, which is whether my client should be allowed to continue proceeding anonymously, except for one sentence requesting an expedited hearing.
"The contentions that the amended complaint's allegations are inflammatory and frivolous, as opposed to counsel's plea that Mr. Carter is innocent, are merely press releases disguised as legal filings."
An anonymous accuser refiled a lawsuit against Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs in New York on Sunday, accusing the rappers of raping a young girl at a VMAs afterparty in 2000, as confirmed by Planet Chronicle Digital.
The rapper from the "Empire State of Mind" denied the allegations in a statement shared on a Roc Nation social media account.
Jay-Z stated that he received a blackmail attempt in the form of a demand letter from a lawyer named Tony Buzbee, who aimed to exploit the nature of the allegations and the public scrutiny to make him settle.
I will not give you one red penny, as it had the opposite effect and made me want to expose you as a fraud in a very public manner.
"The allegations made are so serious that I urge you to file a criminal complaint rather than a civil one. Anyone who commits such a crime against a minor should be punished severely, wouldn't you agree? The victims of these alleged crimes deserve true justice if that were the case."
The 13-year-old girl was dropped off at Radio City Music Hall by a friend to attend the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. She tried to enter the venue by approaching limousine drivers waiting outside the celebrity-filled event.
"The lawsuit alleges that one of the limousine drivers claimed to work for Diddy and stated that Combs preferred younger girls. He also said that the plaintiff "fit what Diddy was looking for" but did not allow her into the Awards, but invited her to an afterparty."
Upon arrival at the party, the 13-year-old recognized many celebrities but was not given a copy of the nondisclosure agreement.
The 13-year-old girl, after allegedly consuming one drink, became disoriented and found a bedroom to rest in. Jay-Z, Diddy, and female "celebrity B" appeared to follow the girl into the room. According to the court document, she immediately recognized all three celebrities.
The court document stated that Jay-Z allegedly raped the girl, followed by Diddy's alleged rape of the plaintiff, all while "celebrity B" watched.
On Dec. 9, Jay-Z's legal team filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, which was filed one day after the amended complaint was submitted.
Diddy's representatives have again denied the allegations, as stated in a Planet Chronicle Digital report.
The amended complaint and the recent extortion lawsuit against Mr. Buzbee reveal his lawsuits against Mr. Combs as shameless publicity stunts aimed at extracting payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs.
"Mr. Combs' legal team has previously stated that he has complete faith in the accuracy of the facts and the impartiality of the legal system. In court, it will be proven that Mr. Combs did not engage in any form of sexual assault or trafficking, regardless of the victim's gender or age."
