Jay-Z and Beyoncé attend 'Mufasa: The Lion King' premiere amidst rape allegations.
In new court documents, Jay-Z and Sean 'Diddy' Combs have been named together.
The family of Jay-Z, including Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, and Tina Knowles, stood together at the "Mufasa: The Lion King" premiere in Los Angeles, just days after rape allegations were made against the rapper.
"The Lion King" prequel film, featuring Blue Ivy's first acting role, is set to be released. The young star, who turns 13 in January, is joined by Beyoncé, who voiced Nala in the 2019 live-action remake, as well as a host of other actors.
In all the photographs, Jay-Z was seen standing beside Beyoncé on the carpet, with a beaming expression.
On Sunday, a lawsuit was filed accusing Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, of raping a 13-year-old girl along with Sean "Diddy" Combs at an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.
The lawsuit, originally filed in October, was refiled in New York on Sunday by an anonymous accuser who claimed Jay-Z "raped" her while Combs and "Celebrity B" watched. Initially, the lawsuit stated that Combs had raped the minor while "Celebrity A" and "Celebrity B" watched. Carter was identified as "Celebrity A" in the refiled lawsuit.
Jay-Z strongly denied the accusations made by lawyer Tony Buzbee in a statement released by his entertainment company, Roc Nation. The lawsuit alleged that Jay-Z had sexually abused a minor. In response, Jay-Z stated that the allegations were so serious that he urged the authorities to file a criminal complaint rather than a civil one. He emphasized that whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be punished severely. He also expressed his belief that the alleged victims deserved real justice if the accusations were proven true.
Jay-Z mentioned in his statement that the allegations would cause pain to his children, particularly his eldest daughter who is now old enough to access news with her peers.
The only source of my heartache is my family. My spouse and I must inform our kids, who are now old enough for their peers to inquire about these allegations, about the wickedness and avarice of individuals.
"The loss of innocence among children is a tragedy that should not be endured. It is unfair for children to have to comprehend the inexplicable levels of malice that aim to destroy families and the human spirit."
A Combs representative again denied the allegations, stating in a Planet Chronicle Digital statement, "The amended complaint and recent extortion lawsuit against Mr. Buzbee reveal his lawsuits against Mr. Combs as publicity stunts aimed at extracting payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs."
On Monday, the family faced controversy after Tina Knowles liked a post detailing the filing. She wrote on Instagram, "I was Hacked !" without acknowledging the suspicious activity. "As you all know I do not play about my family. So if you see something uncharacteristic of me . Just know that it is not me !"
Knowles seemed jovial on the carpet standing directly next to Jay-Z.
"The Lion King" movie featuring Mufasa will hit theaters on December 20th.
