Jay Leno denies rumors that his facial injuries were due to mob retaliation.
In November, Jay Leno sustained a bruised face and black eye after tumbling down a hill.
Bill Maher's "Club Random" podcast featured Jay Leno as a guest.
The former host of "The Tonight Show" denied rumors that he was injured by a mob due to unpaid gambling debts, stating that his injuries were actually from a different incident.
In November, Leno disclosed that he suffered a wrist fracture and severe facial and body bruises after tumbling down a 60-foot hill near his hotel.
After the fall, the acclaimed stand-up comedian wore an eye patch while performing on stage.
Leno responded to Maher's inquiry about the rumors by stating, "I like the notion that they wouldn't take one of my cars for the gambling debt."
Leno, a well-known automobile enthusiast, owns a garage filled with hundreds of valuable collectible cars worth millions of dollars.
He recalled an encounter with the mafia while he was a young comedian.
He stated, "I was quite intelligent." He recalled a time when he was at Catch a Rising Star, on stage, and a mob guy approached him after the performance. The guy said, "You're a funny kid. You're a funny kid."
"He gives me $100 and I thank him. I suggest he give it to the church or something, but I'm okay. He tells me I'm smart for not taking money from people like him, and nobody bothers me again."
Leno admitted never having any trouble, but he saw the mob brutally attack comics for being "wise a------s" onstage.
He didn't comprehend the rumors because he dislikes losing money.
"Leno admitted that he does not gamble, stating that losing $100 makes him feel dumber than winning $1,000 makes him feel good. He added, "I go, 'I could have taken my wife to dinner.'""
The comedian revealed to "Inside Edition" that he suffered a wrist injury, facial and body bruises, and lost a fingernail after tumbling down a 60-foot rocky hill last month.
In January 2023, Leno experienced another traumatic incident when he was "knocked off" his motorcycle, following which he fell at a hotel.
While riding his motorcycle through a parking lot, Leno sustained two broken ribs, broke his kneecaps and a collarbone after being clotheslined.
Unbeknownst to me, a guy had a wire strung across the parking lot, but I didn't notice it until I turned down a side street and cut through the lot.
"I didn't notice it until it was too late. It suddenly clotheslined me and, boom, I fell off the bike. The bike continued to move, and you know how that usually goes."
In 2022, Leno underwent multiple surgeries after being burned in a gasoline fire. Leno reportedly suffered significant burns to his face, hands, and chest while working underneath a car in his Burbank-area garage.
