Jane Seymour was forced to evacuate her Malibu home due to fires, leaving with only minimal possessions.
The Malibu wildfires were 30% contained as of Friday.
Jane Seymour quickly gathered the necessary items as she rushed to evacuate her home amidst the Malibu fires.
The British actress, who received the British-American Business Council LA Icon Award in Los Angeles on Friday, shared with Planet Chronicle Digital the experience of escaping the flames that were approaching her home and the items she took with her.
Seymour told Planet Chronicle Digital at the event that this week has been unbelievable, supporting the BABC's Holiday Drive for Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
We were fortunate that the fire burned all the way around and came right up to our property where we live on PCH, with news crews right in front of our house.
""I'm eternally grateful but definitely shaken after witnessing the fire come within inches of my house and the surrounding properties," she said."
As she left her home, Seymour's mind was fixated on the items that were most important to her.
""I ran out of the house with the clothes I was wearing, which is jeans, and I think I threw an extra sweater on. I also took a couple of books that my mother had saved from the war in a concentration camp. Therefore, of everything I own in the world, that is what I decided to take with me," she said."
This week, the 73-year-old actress shared Instagram posts showcasing firefighters fighting a wildfire, including a photo of the fire's proximity to her home.
"Despite the Franklin Fire's proximity to our home in Malibu, we are grateful for the firefighters who are risking their lives to protect our community."
She urged her followers to let the fire serve as a reminder of our shared strength, bravery, resilience, and compassion during tough times, while also encouraging them to continue supporting and uplifting one another.
She concluded by thanking all those fighting the flames and keeping them safe, acknowledging their courage as extraordinary.
The Franklin Fire, which started around 10:50 p.m. Monday north of Pepperdine University, has expanded to over 4,000 acres.
As of Friday, the fire was 30% contained.
Malibu residents, including Dick Van Dyke and Mira Sorvino, were forced to evacuate due to the wildfire. They updated their fans on their safety.
At the 4th Annual Christmas Luncheon at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica on Friday, Seymour was commended for her charitable work and professional accomplishments.
