Internet trolls are outraged by John Krasinski being named 'Sexiest Man Alive'.
John Krasinski posed shirtless in a magazine spread celebrating the 2024 title.
On Tuesday, People Magazine unveiled John Krasinski as their 2024 "Sexiest Man Alive," making headlines.
Krasinski, 45, posed for the annual campaign on a New York City yellow taxi cab and joked that he experienced an "immediate blackout" upon hearing he had received the coveted title, which had previously been given to Patrick Dempsey, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba and others.
Emily Blunt, Krasinski's wife of 14 years and an actress, was equally excited about the cover and joked about using the wallpaper print for their Brooklyn home. Krasinski told People.com, "Do we have that on camera? Because that's like a binding contract, I think. My children will love that, it won't be weird at all."
Krasinski's cover release sparked a debate on the Internet, with some praising the choice while others questioning how he earned the title of the year.
"After the week we just had, one fan wrote, 'Is this for real?' while another said, 'No way.'"
"What the actual," one user questioned.
"No way," another follower wrote, with one user echoing similar sentiments, "That's a joke."
Another user asked, "Did all men on Earth die?"
Despite the outrage of many, Krasinski also had a significant number of supporters.
"One fan declared this decision to be among the greatest ever made, while another agreed, saying, 'I'm not upset about it, Jim Halpert.'"
Kate Flannery, his former "The Office" co-star, wrote, "It's high time!"
Another fan wrote that John Krasinski is very sexy, making a great choice.
Krasinski believes that not much will change at home with his wife and daughters, Hazel and Violet, even though the title has changed.
"He joked that he thought it would increase his household chores after the release, and she would respond with, 'Alright, that means you'll really earn it here at home.'"
