In his next romance, 'Horizon' star Kevin Costner shares what he's searching for.
There were rumors that Kevin Costner was dating singer Jewel following his divorce from ex-wife Christine Baumgartner.
As Kevin Costner finalized "Horizon: An American Saga," he was also mourning the conclusion of a nearly 20-year marriage with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner.
In May 2023, Baumgartner, 50, filed for divorce from Costner, 69, after 18 years of marriage. By February 2024, their divorce was finalized and Costner was once again a single man.
The "Field of Dreams" actor shared with Planet Chronicle Digital the qualities he seeks in a romantic interest, even after the end of his union.
Before disclosing his ideal partner, Costner admitted to having two distinct relationships.
"To feel at their best, a person who desires love must have it. Love enhances and does not hinder this desire."
"A person who wants to be loved, and they want to be, you know … feel like they're at their very best. And that love helps that and doesn't hinder it." — Kevin Costner
Cindy Silva was Costner's first wife, whom he met at California State University, Fullerton, and married in 1978.
Cindy and Kevin were married for 16 years and had three children together before their divorce was finalized in 1994. Silva was reportedly awarded $80 million in the divorce settlement, making it one of the most expensive celebrity divorces of all time, according to Forbes.
"In a 2012 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Costner stated that his divorce had shaken his faith. He explained that no one desires for their marriage to end, and it did. As a result, he would only see the people he loved the most, his children, only half as much, which was a significant loss."
Before meeting Christine, Costner had one son with former partner Bridget Rooney.
In June 2003, Costner and Baumgartner made their engagement public after dating since 1998. They exchanged vows on Costner's 165-acre ranch in Aspen, Colorado, and now share parenting responsibilities for their three children: sons Hayes, 15, and Cayden, 17, and daughter Grace, 14.
In the latter part of the year, there were rumors about a romantic relationship between actor Michael Douglas, known for his role in "Bull Durham," and singer Jewel, after they were seen together on the British Virgin Islands.
In an interview on "The Howard Stern Show" this month, Costner revealed more about their relationship and admitted that they had never been on a date.
The radio host claimed to have "heard rumors" about Kevin and Jewel's relationship, which led Kevin to respond, "No, we are friends. We've never gone out together. She's special to me, and I don't want these rumors to harm our friendship."
"Kevin, how does that work?" Stern inquired.
""I went to Richard Branson's island, where I discovered that she had a foundation and was part of it. Branson has been asking me to visit Necker Island for years, and I finally decided to go. I'm now a single father, and my son has asked me to come down there for 10 years," Costner said."
Jewel and Emma Watson were among the nine people he traveled with on a private plane. He had great conversations with both of them.
"I was conversing with nine individuals, and I don't want the media to spoil this for us because I've had textual conversations with her, and she's incredibly intelligent, and she's been through a lot herself, and we have a friendship. We don't have a romantic relationship, and we haven't gone on a date."
Now that "Yellowstone" is officially off his personal horizon, Costner will have more time on his hands. When asked why he finally made the decision to leave the popular series, Costner's answer was simple.
He told Planet Chronicle Digital that it was time to step away because there were too many questions about it.
After months of speculation about his role on the Taylor Sheridan show, the Oscar-winner announced last week that he was finished with the program for good.
"I have some news to share with you all. After working on 'Horizon' for over a year and a half, and considering the upcoming season 5 and future episodes of 'Yellowstone,' I have come to the conclusion that I won't be able to continue with the show," he announced on Instagram.
"The experience that transformed me was something I loved and I know you loved it too. I wanted to inform you that I won't be coming back. Despite the wonderful relationship we've built, I'll catch up with you at the cinema."
Currently, the main love in Costner's life is his passion project, "Horizon: An American Saga," which he directed, co-wrote, starred in, and included an ensemble cast of actors such as Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Luke Wilson, Abbey Lee, Jena Malone, Giovanni Ribisi, and his 15-year-old son, Hayes.
Hayes' casting as Nathaniel Kittredge on set with Costner was unique in many ways.
"I'm so happy that he has that now the rest of his life," Costner said to Planet Chronicle Digital. "I haven't pushed my children into this, and this might be his only dabble in it, but he's memorable. And for me to have him, I'll never forget it."
