In a recent interview, Prince William discussed his childhood and for the first time in a while, publicly mentioned Prince Harry.
Recently, William and Harry appeared to avoid each other at the memorial service for Lord Robert Fellowes, their mother's brother-in-law, in August.
In a new documentary about homelessness, Prince William remembered a significant memory he shared with his brother, Prince Harry, from their childhood, despite their ongoing tensions.
"In a preview clip for his new ITV documentary, "Prince William: We Can End Homelessness," the Prince of Wales stated that his mother took him and Harry to The Passage when he was around 11 years old. He had never experienced anything like it before and felt a bit anxious about what to expect."
In the documentary, a photo depicted two boys sitting casually at a homeless charity, with Harry sitting on his mother, Princess Diana's lap, while smiling for the camera.
When they arrived at the center, Princess Diana made everyone feel relaxed and joking with each other, just like usual.
He stated in the clip, "Although I initially believed that those without a home would be very sad, I was amazed at how happy the atmosphere was."
Although the Kensington Palace X account wished William a happy 40th birthday, the brothers have had a strained relationship since the Duke of Sussex's marriage to Meghan Markle, and William's documentary remarks are believed to be his first public mention of his brother in years.
After Harry and Meghan left England for California in 2020, the strain was further intensified.
In 2021, Harry and Meghan did a tell-all sit-down with Oprah Winfrey from California, where they made racism allegations against an unnamed member of the royal family and criticized the institution in the Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan" in 2022.
In 2019, at his London home, he accused William of physically attacking him in an argument over Meghan, which he published in his memoir "Spare" last year.
Recently, William and Harry avoided each other at the memorial service for Lord Robert Fellowes, their mother's brother-in-law, in August.
The brothers kept their distance at the memorial, according to the Sun.
In June, Harry declined an invitation to Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster's wedding in northern England because William was attending, a royal expert informed Planet Chronicle Digital.
According to Christopher Andersen, author of "The King," even if Harry attended and sat in the back row, the media coverage and excitement surrounding the two brothers being in the same room would eclipse the wedding entirely.
In February, Harry returned to London for a brief visit with his father, who was diagnosed with cancer, but he did not meet with William during that time.
The last time the two brothers spoke is believed to have been in 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth.
