Hollywood success takes a backseat for former 'NCIS' star Lucas Black, who puts God and family first.
A man with three children and who is also a husband, stars in the new film 'Unsung Hero'.
Lucas Black has his priorities straight.
Despite his success in Hollywood, the former "NCIS" star prioritizes God and his family above all else.
""Unsung Hero" is a movie about faith and family, which is important to me. I was excited to get it because such stories are rare and it was a blessing."
Black expressed gratitude that the movie was filmed in Louisville, Kentucky, close to his home with his wife and three children.
He was happy to be family and close to home in Louisville, where he spent two weeks.
Black related to his character Jed Albright as a husband and father of faith, according to him.
Lucas Black, an alumnus of 'NCIS,' and his spouse prioritize their relationship over their professional commitments.
"He is married with three kids and, as a churchgoer, he strives to be a man of God, live by faith, and be present for his relationships, including his wife and kids. Similarly, Jed in the script is portrayed as someone who wants to do good, help the community, and fulfill his role as God's called person."
He stated, "Being a part of this story and its message of family and being a good man of God brings me great honor."
Maggie O'Brien, a lawyer and Black's wife of 14 years, has helped keep their marriage strong by prioritizing their relationship over their careers.
"When we made that covenant with each other and before God and before man, she became the number one person in my life and was over everything else," he said. "So, nothing should get in the way of that. And so, you know, it's communicating each other's needs and keeping Jesus at the center. He's the head. We can't do it without him."
Black joked that his wife is patient and forgiving, and that her ability to do so comes from God's power.
Lucas Black, a former 'NCIS' star, considers his role in 'Unsung Hero' a blessing because people are seeking positive and uplifting content.
He also called being a father "amazing."
"He stated, "As a man, we often seek fulfillment through purpose. I have learned valuable lessons in life, and I want to pass them on to my children. My goal is to teach them to become responsible adults who can make a positive impact on the world and contribute to the growth of the kingdom.""
Being a dad is an honor and privilege that God wants to partner with us to procreate and produce life. It's amazing to me that God chose to partner with us to fulfill his command to be fruitful and multiply. As men, we should embrace this responsibility and find it to be the most satisfying and fulfilling experience in life.
Lucas Black, a former star of 'NCIS,' believes that men have an inherent desire to become fathers.
After several seasons on "NCIS" and "NCIS: New Orleans," Christopher LaSalle, played by Scott Bakula, departed from his role due to family reasons.
"He stated that he would work 70 hours a week, which would result in him leaving for work while his children were still asleep and returning home to find them already in bed. This schedule, he believed, would negatively impact the relationships that were most important to him. As a result, he knew that it wouldn't be sustainable for him in the long run."
After much "prayer and consideration," Black decided to leave the CBS crime series.
Lucas Black, who played Jed Albright on 'NCIS,' is also a devoted father in 'Unsung Hero.'
He stated that he had to prioritize what was most significant in his life. He shared that he had been fortunate and that God had led him in a different direction with his career. "Legacy Peak" was the first film he worked on after "NCIS," and it was also the first time that the production team consisted of Christian believers.
"Being on a movie set with like-minded believers and a shared goal was a truly blessed experience. This encounter shifted my path and led to numerous script opportunities, ultimately resulting in the creation of 'Unsung Hero'."
The film "Unsung Hero," starring Joel Smallbone, Rebecca St. James, and Candace Cameron Bure, will be released in theaters on Friday.
