Zoe Saldaña, who stars in "Lioness," comprehends the sacrifices parents make to balance their careers and maintain a stable home life.

In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Saldaña discussed her struggle to balance her career in Hollywood with raising her three sons ahead of the release of the second season of the Paramount+ show.

"The actress, who is currently promoting two projects she is proud of, shared that she wishes she knew how to balance her work and personal life. She admitted that sometimes she feels like she has a grip on it, but lately, she has been nonstop and on the road. She also mentioned that these sacrifices are made as a family and it is painful."

Saldaña stated, "The only way to cope with the pain is to manage it. I always advise parents, particularly fathers and mothers, to accept the feeling of being torn and learn to manage it."

Saldaña concluded, "It's challenging because you care about both aspects of your life and don't want to disappoint either, but you still want to pursue it. I always suggest removing the word 'have.' You don't have to do anything that keeps you from your children. If you want to do it and then share that experience with them because it's a different level of understanding when they know that what I'm doing brings me joy."

In "Lioness," Taylor Sheridan's creation, Saldaña portrays Joe as she juggles her personal and professional responsibilities as the CIA's top agent in the fight against terrorism. The show is also based on a real U.S. military program.

Before embarking on this project, Saldaña already held a "high level of respect" for the U.S. military and their families.

"The people and communities that serve have always been highly respected by me. It takes a truly selfless individual to sacrifice their own life for the sake of others," she stated.

Saldaña stated that she loves the show's focus on women in service, particularly those in paramilitary intelligence roles who plan, execute, and scout operations.

Saldaña read books and watched videos to get into the right "mindset" for the role.

"Being a spy requires being both calm and paranoid at the same time, as if you're constantly vacillating between stillness and absolute paranoia," she said, referring to her character on the show.

"Saldaña, Kidman, and Freeman star in "Lioness." According to Saldaña, working with Kidman and Freeman has been a "gift.""

Every time someone yells "action," she is deeply surprised to see the people involved, knowing they are forces of nature. Working with her idols and masters is a gift and an honor that makes her become an actor.

Saldaña continued, "It's awesome to share space and screen time with my fans, Nicole and Morgan Freeman."

"Preparation is crucial, but it can't be everything because there's another actor involved. Depending on their actions, you'll discover different tones to scenes. To avoid being too focused on your own thoughts, which I've never really done before."

The first two episodes of season two of "Lioness" aired on Paramount+ on Oct. 27, and the third episode will be released on Sunday, Nov. 3.
