Hollywood's false promises: Trace Adkins advises his daughter
Trace Adkins' daughter, Mackenzie, was a contestant on the ABC reality show 'The Masked Singer'.
Trace Adkins gained prominence in the country music industry in the '90s and has since produced 10 studio albums and numerous hit singles.
The actor-writer-producer, who is also a proud father, admitted that his daughter Mackenzie, 26, displayed a neutral outlook during the challenging casting process for the reality show "Claim to Fame."
Mackenzie disclosed to her father that she initially received a message from a casting agency on social media, which led to a back-and-forth process that made her doubt whether she was truly being cast for a television show.
"Adkins stated in an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital that he was pleased to hear that Mackenzie had learned something. He emphasized that dealing with everything in Hollywood requires this approach, stating, "Yeah, I've had so many things, and most of which I've forgotten about, but there have been so many, so many things in my career that were connected to Hollywood. And they never happened.""
Trace Adkins, renowned for his three-decade career as a country singer, has also been active in the film and television industry for many years. Recently, he starred alongside Susan Sarandon in the FOX drama "Monarch," and has previous film credits in "The Lincoln Lawyer," "The Outsider," and "Wyatt Earp's Revenge."
"Adkins stated, "They assure you, 'Yes, we'll do this and that, and it's moving along,'" but then you realize, "I haven't heard from them in six months, and it's vanished.""
Before leaving to film the show, Mackenzie concurred with how she felt when speaking with the casting company.
"I've had so many things, and most of which I've forgotten about, but there have been so many, so many things in my career that were connected to Hollywood. And they never happened." — Trace Adkins
"I researched it and watched both seasons to ensure it was a legitimate show," she stated. "However, I participated in numerous interviews and encountered various casting directors and producers who were interested in my services. They kept informing me of my rankings, such as being in the top 25, top 15, and even the top couple. I tried to remain cautious and not get too excited, but ultimately, it did not materialize."
She informed her family with only a one-day notice before moving out and provided minimal details to support her actions.
Adkins said, "I was a little concerned, but I assumed she would be okay if she was with those people out there."
Mackenzie added, "And I told you halfway through."

"Adkins stated that he believed the reason she was removed from the show was because she didn't have her phone, and when she called him halfway through, he was shocked."
Contestants on "Claim to Fame" reside in a private home with famous relatives and must conceal their own celebrity status while trying to determine who their fellow contestants are related to.
Contestants compete in challenges that involve clues about celebrity affiliations throughout the show. Winning teams can vote for lower-ranked competition performers to guess who may be the celebrity any one person is connected to. If the person who guesses is incorrect, they are eliminated from the show.
"I was, you know, a little concerned, but, you know, I assumed that if she was going to be with these people out there, that she would probably be OK." — Trace Adkins
Adam Christoferson and Hud Mellencamp joined Mackenzie in the finals.
During the show, Hud and Mackenzie developed a close bond, which persisted in real life. Their friendship was so strong that their fathers even met at a finale viewing party.
Mackenzie said, "It was great that we were all together at the watch party with my dad."
Mackenzie, the daughter of a country music legend, was never affected by it since she is the oldest of three daughters with her ex-wife, Rhonda Forlaw Adkins. Similarly, Trace Adkins has Tarah and Sarah with his ex-wife, Barbara Lewis.
"Mackenzie stated, "Dad has always been just a dad to me. He was always away on business when we were young. I've been traveling with him since I was born, almost constantly. We spent every summer on the road. Even when I started school, we still traveled with dad every summer. I've grown accustomed to this lifestyle.""
Growing up backstage at the Grand Ole Opry must have been incredibly strange for her, as she was surrounded by her sisters and the music industry from a young age.
"They're not impressed by me now. If I can kick the soccer ball all the way over the house, they'll be impressed, but not by the other stuff."
