Hollywood can sometimes cause Jamie Foxx to feel like God is out of reach.
God has strengthened Foxx's relationship following his stroke.
In the spring of 2023, Jamie Foxx experienced a brain bleed that led to a stroke and coma. Since then, he has had a spiritual encounter with God.
The entertainer, 57, who was nominated for his comedy special "What Had Happened Was…" at the Golden Globes on Sunday, acknowledged that maintaining a relationship with God while navigating the fast-paced world of Hollywood was challenging, although he had noticed a resurgence of faith during his recovery.
"In Hollywood, God sometimes fades away, but when I spoke to him, he said, "Listen, I need you to take a moment, but when you return, I won't ask you to be an angel, just - you know - do something different.""
"When you dream about your aspirations, you only envision positive outcomes. You imagine grand careers and luxurious homes, never contemplating misfortune. However, when tragedy strikes in reality, it is crucial to have a strong support system from family and friends. In this instance, Corinne Marie Foxx and Anelise Estelle Fox provided me with the necessary support during my time of need."
"I am grateful for the prayers of those who supported me during my difficult times. Recently, I have been able to thank some of you personally, but I want to express my gratitude to all of you who prayed for me. Your prayers were instrumental in my recovery," Foxx wrote on Instagram in December 2023, celebrating his 56th birthday.
Foxx, who spent nearly two years in a coma, now believes in living life with the mindset that there are "no bad days."
He explained, "Now my life looks like that picture on my cell phone, which I took and brightened up with the first filter."
