Harvey Weinstein is hospitalized after a concerning blood test, and his representative has confirmed his leukemia diagnosis.
Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul, has been diagnosed with leukemia.
Bellevue Hospital rushed Harvey Weinstein back after a "worrying blood test" confirmed he had leukemia, his representative stated.
Imran H. Ansari, Harvey Weinstein's attorney, stated that he has been transferred to Bellevue Hospital for urgent medical treatment after a concerning blood test result. Weinstein has been facing inadequate medical care and deplorable conditions on Rikers Island.
"It is anticipated that he will continue to stay there until his condition stabilizes. The lack of care he is receiving is not only a breach of medical standards, but also a violation of his fundamental rights."
Juda Engelmayer, the representative of Weinstein, confirmed that the disgraced movie mogul has been diagnosed with leukemia.
Mr. Weinstein, who is afflicted with various ailments, including leukemia, has been denied the necessary medical care that someone in his condition warrants, regardless of his status as a prisoner. This mistreatment can be considered inhumane and unjust, as stated by Mr. Weinstein in an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital.
In recent months, Weinstein's team has maintained that he is not receiving any treatment for his medical issues, despite his declining health.
"Weinstein's lawyer, Arthur Aidala, stated after a court hearing in July that he cannot provide any details about the treatment Weinstein is receiving, but he believes Weinstein needs relief. The lawyer is confident that Weinstein will be acquitted and that there is hope for him in the future."
In a stunning reversal of a landmark #MeToo case, a New York appeals court overturned Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction this past April, ordering a new trial.
The court ruled in a 4-3 decision that Weinstein's trial judge permitted prosecutors to call women who claimed Weinstein had assaulted them to testify, despite their accusations not being directly related to the charges against the entertainment mogul.
In February 2020, Weinstein was convicted of forcing oral sex on Mimi Haley in 2006 and third-degree rape of Jessica Mann in 2013, resulting in a 23-year prison sentence.
Weinstein was found not guilty of first-degree rape and two counts of predatory sexual assault, despite Annabella Sciorra's claims of rape in the 1990s. Weinstein maintains his innocence and denies any non-consensual sexual activity.
In January 2023, Aidala, Weinstein's lawyer, filed an appeal in his New York case, arguing that the entertainment mogul didn't receive a "fair trial."
Weinstein's representative stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that Harvey was innocent and should not have been tried or convicted for the allegations. The trial was biased from the start when former Judge Burke questioned Harvey about spending the rest of his life in prison for using a cellphone before the judge entered the courtroom or began the day's proceedings.
"As a result of being rejected from the bench, Burke and the case should have been dismissed. The jury was influenced by the lies of a juror and private lawyers representing non-case-related complainants acting as prosecutorial surrogates. We were often gagged, which steered the jury in a direction they never would have gone in if it were honest."
