Harrison Ford, 82, says he should be 'sitting on my a--,' but loves working.
The star of 'Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark' returned for season two of the Apple TV+ show, 'Shrinking'.
Harrison Ford is not ready to slow down anytime soon.
In a recent interview with GQ, the 82-year-old actor discussed his long career in Hollywood and his latest project, "Shrinking," where he plays Paul, a therapist with Parkinson's disease. Despite his age, Ford has no plans to retire from acting.
He admitted that he should be sitting on his butt, but he enjoys working, according to the outlet.
Over the past six decades, Ford has brought to life numerous renowned characters, such as Han Solo from the original "Star Wars" trilogy and Indiana Jones from the acclaimed adventure series, beginning with "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" in 1981.
Ford is drawn back by the chance to continue sharing compelling narratives, as he emphasizes to GQ that the writing quality in "Shrinking" is a crucial factor in his decision-making process when selecting roles.
"The quality of writing is what matters, regardless of the genre or medium. It's the story, characters, and emotional experience that captivate an audience or the writer. Working with talented people or seizing a quality opportunity are the key factors."
In 2023, the "American Graffiti" star made his first appearance as Paul in the Apple TV+ comedy "Shrinking," alongside Jason Segal as Jimmy, a grieving therapist. As Jimmy's career and personal life spiraled out of control, Paul provided him with a much-needed reality check.
"I suppose I should be sitting on my ass, but I actually love working." — Harrison Ford
"Although it appeared challenging, the task was executed with poise and charisma, and I believed it was accomplished when I read the script provided by Brett Goldstein. The show immediately drew me in due to its success in both drama and comedy. It was an unconventional role for me to portray, I thought."
In addition to his role as Red Hulk in "Captain America: Brave New World," set to release in February 2025, the "Star Wars" actor has another project in the works.
Ford described his entry into the Marvel universe as a sailor unfamiliar with a new town, stating that he is partaking in a new aspect of the business that is being well-received by audiences.
"He revealed to GQ that while working more and having a business that supported it, he believed he would do one project for the business and one for himself. Specifically, he would undertake a project that he was passionate about due to the people involved, subject matter, or character, and then another that he thought would be a commercial success since he believed it was important."
The second season of "Shrinking" will be released on Apple TV+ on October 16th.
