Gwen Stefani attempted to end her "crazy" relationship with Blake Shelton.
In July 2021, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton exchanged vows in an intimate wedding ceremony.
Gwen Stefani reflects on the early stages of her romance with country singer Blake Shelton.
In a recent interview with People, the singer revealed that she was initially hesitant to take their relationship to the next level with Shelton.
"Stefani recounted the moment they met, which was chaotic. Their lives were in complete disarray, leaving them feeling helpless. At one point, she felt overwhelmed and unable to communicate with the other person. She thought, "I can't even talk to you. This is insane. I already have enough problems. This is not happening anymore. We're not going to text or nothing.""
In 2014, Stefani and Shelton first crossed paths when Stefani joined "The Voice" as a coach, while both were still married to Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert, respectively. By July 2015, both had finalized their divorces and began a relationship.
Although Stefani wasn't prepared for a new relationship after their divorces, Shelton believed that the two of them were destined to be more than just friends. He revealed that he attempted to win her over by writing a song for her, stating that songwriting is "where I find my satisfaction." However, this was not a common occurrence for Shelton.
"There was a point where I was like, 'I can't even talk to you. This is insane. I already have enough problems. This is not happening anymore. We're not going to text or nothing.'" — Gwen Stefani
In 2016, the duet "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" was released by the two, with the song ending up as such.
""We wrote our first song together, even though we were never in the same room. He sent me a half-written song and asked for help, so I wrote the second verse back. It's just over text," she said."
In 2015, the two officially began dating after winning each other over with a song, and later got married in July 2021 in an intimate ceremony on Shelton's property in Oklahoma.
Stefani, who has three sons with her ex-husband, expressed her heartbreak over not being able to maintain a family unit with Rossdale.
"Since childhood, I dreamed of being married and having the love that my parents had, and starting a family. However, that dream was shattered, leaving me to find a new path and create a new dream. But then, God brought Blake into my life, and he became the miracle that helped me move forward and find a new dream."
Although they come from different musical backgrounds, Stefani and her duet partner have released many songs together, including "Nobody But You," "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," "Happy Anywhere," and most recently, "Purple Irises," which is on Stefani's latest album, "Bouquet."
Despite their differing tastes, music has always been a bonding factor for the two, with Stefani describing her husband as a "jukebox" on her talk show in October.
"Stefani revealed that she has learned a lot from him, who is incredibly talented when it comes to listening to music. She often seeks his opinions on her music and they frequently exchange their music with each other."
