Guy Fieri refutes misconception about his health: "You're wrong"
Since 2020, the host of 'Diners, Drive-ins and Dives' has lost 30 pounds.
Despite being known for his love of deep-fried foods, Guy Fieri has always been health-conscious and recently lost 30 pounds through portion control, intermittent fasting, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
The Food Network star, 56, and restaurateur admitted to Men's Health that he was never unhealthy, but when he turned 50, he recognized the need to intensify his fitness routine to combat aging.
"In the "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" world, people often go, "Oh, you're the chef that eats the deep-fried pizza burgers with the ice cream toppings and all those huge, fried everythings," he told the magazine. My response is, "I don't want to say that you don't know what you're talking about, but you don't know what you're talking about.""
He mentions that while he enjoys visiting "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives," he also prefers healthier options such as vegan restaurants.
He stated that he was seeking as much authenticity in the cuisine as possible.
In 2020, Fieri began HIIT training with a trainer who taught him exercises such as overhead lifts, burpees, and squats.
He also changed his diet.
"He stated, "When we began discussing intermittent fasting, it was after I became more committed to my diet and exercise routine, which ultimately transformed the situation.""
He stopped consuming green juices, which his trainer believed were adding empty calories, and now only eats between noon and 8 p.m. He clarified that he's not a big breakfast enthusiast.
Fieri stated that he still eats what he wants, but he just doesn't consume as much of it. Furthermore, when filming "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives," he takes a few bites of each dish before moving on to the next location.
He also cherry-picks what he eats more carefully now.
"Fieri stated, "I'll illustrate using pizza as an example. Pizza is one of those foods that when it's excellent, it's truly exceptional. However, even when it's subpar, individuals still consume it. I'm now more likely to avoid eating something that's not exceptional than to consume it.""
Along with his daily workouts, he also performs cold plunges, stating that the initial 30 seconds are crucial for both activities.
"Cold plunges require endurance, as you must push through the initial 30 seconds. Initially, I found waiting for the timer to go off to be tedious. However, now I focus on my breathing and mentally prepare myself. The rush of energy it provides motivates me, and I make it a daily practice."
He said to the magazine, "My workout class starts at 7:30 a.m., and if I can simply commit to entering the room and doing the first 30 seconds, I'll be able to get going."
In his hometown of Ferndale, California, Fieri was recently given the title of honorary mayor for a day. However, the restaurateur informed Planet Chronicle Digital that he does not envision a political future for himself.
Fieri believes that he can contribute more politically by being a positive influence, spreading positivity, entertaining people, nourishing them through philanthropy, as he stated after hosting Sammy Hagar's Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony.
Sometimes messages become confusing when politics is involved. While there are those who excel and those who need to improve, the truth is, I'll simply focus on doing what I do best and staying in my lane.
On April 5, 2021, the 56-year-old was appointed honorary mayor of Ferndale, California, where he presided over a City Council meeting. From now on, April 5 in Ferndale will be celebrated as "Guy Fieri Day."
Fieri stated that although he was uncertain about his duties as honorary mayor for the upcoming year, he was certain that there would be a party on April 5 to celebrate his one-year anniversary of being officially appointed honorary mayor.

"Ferndale is a charming, idyllic town that the father of two highly praises. He reminisces about the movie "Outbreak" filmed in Ferndale and the many amazing people and stories that reside there. The town is located near the beach and boasts great fairgrounds, a horse race, and a racetrack. Additionally, the town is home to numerous artists and Victorian buildings. Overall, the father of two is incredibly proud of Ferndale."
Fieri has also been raising his two sons to be self-sufficient.
The host of "Guy's Grocery Games" shared with Planet Chronicle Digital earlier this year that he had received the same advice from his father, who said, "When I die, you can expect that I'm going to die broke, and you're going to be paying for the funeral."
Fieri expressed his desire for both Hunter, 27, and Ryder, 18, to earn multiple degrees.
"Ryder, my youngest son who is a senior in high school, is preparing to graduate in the spring. He expressed his frustration, saying, "Dad, it's so unfair. I haven't even gone to college yet, and you're already pushing me to get an MBA? Can't I just finish college first?""
Guy Fieri's son Hunter discusses the lessons he has acquired from being related to the renowned Food Network host.
Fieri stated, "Shaq once said, 'If you want any of this cheese, you've got to give me two degrees.' My two degrees are postgraduate, so they're on their way."
Guy's footsteps are being followed by Hunter, who has been working with his dad for years in the television industry.
Fieri boasted, "I believe the young man is on the verge of success."
