Gordon Ramsay recounts the bike accident that resulted in him being bloodied and experiencing blurred vision.
In June, Ramsay suffered an injury from a bike accident.
Gordon Ramsay's serious bicycle accident left him unable to care for himself.
In June, the TV chef disclosed his condition after he was thrown from his bicycle and his helmet was split in half.
In an interview with Men's Health UK, Ramsay recalled, "I thought I was going to pass out because I saw blood and my vision blurred."
"Ramsay stated that he struggled to put on his socks and pants during his recovery. He felt like an old man and found it humiliating to ask a 30-year-old kid to put his underpants on."
In June, Ramsay showed his injuries to his followers after being involved in a bike accident.
"In a video message, Gordon shared a crucial message with his audience. He began by introducing himself and expressing his love for cycling, triathlons, and the Isle of Mann. However, he then revealed that he had a terrible accident this week."
The "MasterChef" star was visibly shaken as he added, "I'm lucky to be here. The trauma surgeons, doctors, and nurses who took care of me this week were incredible, but honestly, you need to wear a helmet."
He displayed a large bruise on his torso at the time.
After recovering from his injuries, Ramsay returned to fitness.
"He shared with Men's Health UK that he considers the speed of his work and the tasks he takes on, then reflects on his motivation; fitness is the foundation. He finds training relaxing because it allows him to escape the fast lane and be alone, whether he's up a mountain, on a bike, trail, run, or swim."
The celebrity chef has no plans to slow down in life anytime soon.
"I could relax, put my feet up, buy a boat and escape to the Caribbean, but I'm not interested in that," he admitted. "I enjoy the thrill... and I can do that because I'm fit. I can do that because I have the drive. When I lack the drive, then I'll retire."
Ramsay's rise to fame began in the 1990s with his appearance on the British show "Boiling Point." He later opened his own restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, in Chelsea, London, which has held three Michelin stars since 2001.
"Ramsay stated, "Growing up with parents who didn't own their own home taught me not to obsess over money and not to get spoiled. However, I love luxury and enjoy owning cars, but I work hard to attain them.""
His outlook on life has trickled down into his parenting.
Ramsay and his wife Tana have six children: Megan, Holly, Jack, Matilda, Oscar, and Jesse. For their twins' 18th birthday, Ramsay purchased marathon placements for them.
"Instead of buying their kids cars and iPads like many of our friends, we opted to give our kids marathon places for their 18th birthday," he shared. "Congratulations on running the marathon for Great Ormond Street. Here's your bib. Now get moving!"
The full interview can be read on the Men's Health UK website or in the new issue of Men's Health UK, which is available starting Sept. 10.
