Glenn Close, star of "Back in Action," is thriving in Bozeman, Montana.
Since relocating to Montana in 2019, Close has adjusted to the local way of life.
She revealed that her home is in Bozeman, Mont., where all her siblings reside. Her 1892 brick house boasts a porch with a view of the mountains and allows her to greet neighbors.
Close is considering expanding her property portfolio after spending several years in Big Sky Country.
She stated that she was constructing a bigger house, approximately a half-hour away from the town.
"Today, my home is in Bozeman, Mont. All of my siblings live here. My modest, 1892 brick house has a porch where I can see the mountains and say hi to neighbors." — Glenn Close
"Our family's Zen farmhouse will be a sanctuary, with a stone cottage in the back, reminiscent of my childhood's best years."
In 2020, Close discussed with Mountain Outlaw the possibility of relocating from New York City to Montana, which was a year before the world was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the winter, I filmed in Canada. Although it was enjoyable, I missed home, which was unexpected since I never experienced homesickness before.
Bozeman is not only my home but also the place I couldn't wait to return to. When I left for that job, Jessie and Tina were there to bid me farewell at the airport. It was such a wonderful experience. I've come to realize how much I dislike going away.
Jessie, Close's sister, resides in the house adjacent to theirs, while Tina, another sister, dwells in a nearby property. Additionally, Close has two brothers, Alexander and Tambu Misoki, who both reside in Montana.
"As a child, I found comfort in nature, and this has remained constant for me. I strive to provide the same opportunity for my family, particularly now, to return to this place and be with my siblings. Additionally, I want to ensure that my daughter and her children have a piece of land outside of town that will always be available to them."
"That’s my legacy," she added.
Currently, Close stated that her time spent in Montana have been the "most fulfilling" years of her existence.
"The award-winning actress stated, "You can wake up at four in the morning and believe you've made every wrong decision in your life, and then you remain awake until dawn, which is a highly lethal place to be." She added, "I simply feel incredibly fortunate. I truly believe these will be the finest years of my life.""
Hillbilly Elegy star Close was once a member of the Moral Re-Armament cult.
Close shared with WSJ that her life transformed when she was seven and her family became part of a cult. She left the cult in 1970, at the age of 22.
In the 1920s, a man named Frank Buchman started a successful religious movement called Moral Re-Armament, or MRA. He emphasized the importance of surrendering oneself to a higher power and practicing solitary silence. His teachings attracted thousands of followers from various countries.
During the threat of World War II, Buchman founded the group Moral Re-Armament, with the goal of using spirituality to unite the world and achieve peace. Despite criticism from some, others embraced his vision. Among them was Glenn Close's father.
While Close and her siblings were placed in Switzerland at the MRA headquarters, he left the group to work in Africa. In a 2014 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress detailed the strict rules and manipulation that took place behind the scenes.
"She stated that she felt restricted and guilty about any unnatural desires due to being unable to do anything without feeling guilty. Talking to people who dictated how to live, what to say, and how to feel from age seven to 22 had a profound impact on her. To overcome these trigger points, she had to consciously work on it."
In her 2021 interview with Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey, she explained that the breakup was "really awful" and that it's "astonishing" how something that happened at an early stage in life can still have a destructive potential. She believes this is due to childhood trauma.
"The same things were said by everyone, and there were many rules and control. Due to our upbringing, anything that you wanted to do for yourself was deemed selfish," she explained.
In 1970, at the age of 22, Close departed from the group yet continued to face challenges.
"She revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she didn't seek professional help, so she had dreams that began with betrayal and eventually led to her being able to confidently walk away."
"Back in Action," starring Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, and Kyle Chandler, is the latest project of Close, and it will be released on Netflix on January 17.
