Experts suggest that Prince William is seeking advice from Princess Diana as he navigates through a challenging year.
The Prince of Wales, who is also the heir to the British throne, is focusing attention on homelessness in the UK, just like his late mother did.
With the support of his late mother, Prince William is preparing to establish his reign as king after overcoming a challenging period in his life.
In South Africa this month, the Prince of Wales described the past year as "brutal" after his wife and father were diagnosed with cancer. He admitted that 2024 was likely the "hardest year of my life."
William mentioned that it has been challenging to manage everything while staying on track.
Helena Chard, a British broadcaster and photographer, revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital that the year has been the most challenging for Prince William due to his wife and father's illnesses, while also maintaining his strength for his family and fulfilling his royal duties.
"She explained that he would have been reminded of the trauma of losing his mother at an early age, and she was sure he was terrified that he could again lose his nearest and dearest. Prince William will always honor and respect his mother, who was a great role model for him, teaching him to love and help people and use his platform to create change for good."
The Duke of Cambridge, who is the future king of Britain, recently starred in a two-part documentary titled "Prince William: We Can End Homelessness." In the special, the 42-year-old allowed cameras to follow him during the first years of his Homewards initiative, which aims to eradicate long-term homelessness in the U.K.
Princess Diana came up frequently in the first part of the documentary.
According to Roya Nikkhah, the royals editor for The Sunday Times and co-host of "The Royals with Roya and Kate," Princess Diana has been significantly impacting Prince William's decisions.
"She shared that what's very interesting is hearing him say that he's been thinking a lot about what people want his role to be and what they want from him. He says he's been taking guidance and inspiration from his mother more than ever before."
"Diana's actions, such as taking her young sons to homeless shelters and introducing them to different aspects of life, have had a significant impact on Prince Harry. These experiences have influenced his role as heir to the throne and as a father, as he continues to introduce his own children to these issues."
"She’s still got a huge influence," Nikkhah added.
In the documentary, William remembered how his mother took him and Prince Harry to The Passage, an organization that aims to put an end to homelessness.
"The royal was anxious about what to expect, but their mother made everyone feel relaxed and happy. Despite thinking that everyone would be sad without homes, the environment was incredibly joyful."
"He confessed that he realized there were others who didn't share his life when he had good conversations while playing chess and chatting. As a child, he thought life was only what he saw in front of him, but meeting people like him gave him a different perspective. He shared how he was in the street last night."

William became a patron of The Passage and Centrepoint, a charity that aims to combat homelessness, while Diana was previously a patron of Centrepoint.
According to Kinsey Schofield, host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast, Prince William honors Diana's legacy by championing several of her causes and staying true to her values in both his public and personal life.
"Princess Diana was renowned for her hands-on approach to charity, particularly in areas related to homelessness, AIDS awareness, and anti-landmine campaigns. She emphasized this. William has continued this legacy by focusing on mental health advocacy, homelessness, and environmental conservation through his work with organizations like Heads Together and The Royal Foundation’s Earthshot Prize."
"Schofield stated that Diana possessed a special talent for connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and William has continued this legacy by being friendly and relatable. He and Catherine, the Princess of Wales, strive to engage directly with the public, particularly during royal events, making the monarchy more approachable."
William's kind will be revealed to the public, with Diana's influence prominently featured.
"Prince William has become a leading advocate for mental health awareness, inspired by Diana's openness about her struggles. He speaks openly about the importance of mental well-being and has been instrumental in initiatives like Heads Together, encouraging others to break the stigma around mental health issues."
"What’s very interesting is you hear him in his own words saying that he’s been thinking a lot about, ‘What do people want my role to be? What do people want from me?’ And he says, ‘I’ve been thinking about that a lot recently and taking guidance and inspiration from my mother now more than ever before.’" — Roya Nikkhah, royals editor for The Sunday Times
She stated that Prince William's style is more modern and approachable, similar to Diana, and this has helped attract contemporary audiences and shape the monarchy's future.
In 1997, Princess Diana, the glamorous royal, died at the age of 36 from injuries sustained in a car crash. At the time, William was just 15 years old.
Helena Chard, a British broadcaster and photographer, reportedly said that the deceased person's son told him he would restore his HRH title once he became king.
"He will always have her in his thoughts as a guiding light and will continue her legacy where possible."
"Chard stated that Prince William possesses great empathy, passion, and drive to make a positive impact and bring about change. He will continue to honor his mother's legacy while working tirelessly to achieve his goals as a statesman."
"Prince William was inspired by Princess Diana and now teaches his children the values he learned from his mother. This is a positive ripple effect, and he continues to passionately work towards his causes. He is optimistic about the future."
While William gained valuable insights from his mother, he must still establish his unique identity as the future king. Chard stated that William is optimistic about the upcoming year with the backing of his family.
"Princess Diana was a great role model for Prince William, and now he is passing on the lessons he learned from his mother to his own children," she said. "This is the ideal ripple effect, and Prince William will continue to work tirelessly for all his causes."
Hilary Fordwich, a British royals expert, stated that in addition to wanting Prince William to find job satisfaction in his royal duties, she also believed that he should be able to do so.
"Patrick Jephson, Princess Diana's private secretary, witnessed her transform a royal obligation into something fulfilling, which motivated her to seek personal gain from it. He encouraged him to "Feel good by doing good," as he told me."
