Experts suggest that Prince Harry's trip to NYC without Meghan Markle could improve his reputation following the royal drama.
Before heading to London for the WellChild Awards, the Duke of Sussex is set to undertake a series of engagements in New York City.
Prince Harry has received acclaim for undertaking a sequence of activities on his own.
The Duke of Sussex is currently in New York City to support his charities, and afterward, he will fly to London to attend the WellChild Awards on Sept. 30.
In October 2023, the father of two was in Manhattan with his wife Meghan Markle to support World Mental Health Day.
Doug Eldridge, an agent, celeb branding and marketing expert, and founder of Achilles PR, advised Planet Chronicle Digital that the solo trip is a wise decision for the British prince. He emphasized that since the couple left the royal family in 2020, they have faced numerous challenges together.
Eldridge explained that splitting aces at the poker table is similar to playing two separate hands with an ace as an anchor, even though together they seem unbeatable, they often perform better when played separately.
"Seeing Harry and Meghan together evokes negative associations, such as their departure from the royal family, the release of their tell-all book, and their sit-down interviews. However, when viewed separately, they can appear to be playing their cards skillfully, like a pair of aces split at a poker table."
"Right now, when you see Harry and Meghan together, it conjures an immediate association to the drama, none of which is positive: leaving the royal family, the tell-all book, the sit-downs, the negativity." — Doug Eldridge, founder of Achilles PR
"Harry can still be viewed as the charming man he was always perceived to be, while Megan is free to market her upcoming product line. However, for her, the royal label is no longer applicable, and her association with Harry hasn't been successful in selling to the consumer numbers she needs to be a profitable brand."
"In the short term, this could be beneficial for their public relations battles, but I'm not sure if it will be advantageous for their partnership in the long run," Eldridge said.
On Friday, Harry performed at the One805LIVE! concert in Carpinteria, California, hosted by Kevin Costner, to raise funds for Santa Barbara County First Responders. Unfortunately, Meghan was unable to attend due to illness.
Harry has had a strained relationship with his family and has seen his father infrequently since the couple quit royal duties in 2020. The couple cited unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British press as the reasons for stepping back as senior royals.
Since his TV interviews, documentary, and memoir "Spare," the royal has revealed the difficulties in his relationship with his family.
Expert: Prince Harry's criticism of Queen Camilla is unforgivable for King Charles.
Harry accused Queen Camilla of leaking private conversations to the media to improve her image, and he also revealed his rivalry with Prince William, stating that his brother physically assaulted him during a dispute.
Recently, sources close to Prince Charles III revealed to People magazine that his father has been ignoring his son's phone calls and letters. Meanwhile, an unnamed source spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's staff, describing Meghan as a "dictator in high heels" who has reduced "grown men to tears."
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received a request for comment regarding the hiring of Josh Kettler, their former chief of staff, on a trial basis. It was reported that the decision to end their working relationship was "mutual," with both parties agreeing it wasn't the right fit.
Numerous ex- and present employees have spoken out to Us Weekly in support of the couple and their diligence.
Hilary Fordwich, a British royals expert, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the Sussexes require all the positive publicity they can obtain.
""His NYC trip has been successful because he has been empathetic and stayed true to his strengths, just like his mother did. Avoiding criticism of his family and constant whining about his privileged life has made him more endearing. This could be a step towards becoming relevant again," Fordwich stated."
"Harry's London appearance marks another significant event without Meghan Markle by his side," said Fordwich. "In fact, it's been more than the other way around as he has been dubbed the 'plus one'."
"He has been reduced to a mere foil for Meghan Markle's appearances," she claimed.
Planet Chronicle Digital reported that Kinsey Schofield, host of the To Di For Daily podcast, stated that it is premature to determine if the Sussexes' separate work approach will positively improve their reputation.
"Schofield said, "I believe he's managed to keep things under control. Meghan's presence can sometimes increase his anxiety related to security, but this trip, he seems to be feeling safe.""
Winning the public's trust after a series of scandals will be a challenging journey, according to Schofield.
"The Sussexes have not achieved anything significant since last summer when Rolling Stone ran the story, 'Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are in Their Flop Era,'" she stated. "Are they still technically in their flop era?"
"I won't clap for Prince Harry's networking skills, as I expect more from him. However, if he continues to work independently from Meghan after the new year, it's worth discussing what a professional divorce would mean for them personally."
""Meghan's professional failures caused her to be upset, as reported last year, and now there are rumors that the weeks Harry travels to work without her are a result of that," claimed Schofield."
During the whirlwind trip, Harry's thoughts have been consumed by his family.
According to People magazine, on Sept. 23, Harry FaceTimed his wife and their two young children before performing at the 2024 Concordia Annual Summit.
The event space was virtually toured by Harry's children as he panned the camera around the room.
Zhang, a Diana Legacy Award recipient, disclosed that he called the former actress, 43, backstage.
She remarked, "That was incredibly kind, and it made him more relatable."
