Experts claim that Prince William was unable to tolerate Camilla after she caused the breakdown of King Charles' marriage.
The British throne is set to be inherited by the elder son of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana of Wales, who is known as the Prince of Wales.
The royal siblings, Prince William and Queen Camilla, have displayed unity in supporting King Charles through his cancer battle, despite a history of tension between them.
Hilary Fordwich, a royal expert, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that initially, the British throne heir had no affection towards his stepmother due to the public collapse of his parents' marriage.
"Camilla's dedication to duty has helped Prince William appreciate her, and they have grown closer as they bonded over their spouses' cancer treatment, Fordwich told Planet Chronicle Digital."
"Prince William initially couldn’t stand Camilla. [But] he has come to appreciate her steadfast dedication to duty. They have become closer and have bonded over their spouses coping with cancer treatment." — Hilary Fordwich, British royals expert
Fordwich stated that Camilla has a calming effect on King Charles and that Prince William recognizes her ability to make his father happy.
After it was disclosed that Camilla isn't afraid to reprimand William when he disrespects his father, Fordwich made his claims.
According to Robert Jobson, author of the new biography "Catherine, Princess of Wales," the incident that he recalls is when William and Kate Middleton requested to join Charles and Camilla's security convoy while leaving Windsor Castle. In an excerpt published by the U.K.'s Mirror, Jobson stated that the younger royals kept the older couple waiting, causing Camilla to be dismayed.
Charles was instructed by Camilla to depart with the pair in order to demonstrate something to William, as stated by Jobson.
"As William and Catherine emerged, all they could see were the blue flashing lights of the motorbikes disappearing in the distance," Jobson wrote. "When Charles was kept waiting several minutes for the couple, Camilla insisted they go without them."
Camilla frequently gave William "subtle" reminders of the hierarchy, as mentioned in the book.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on Jobson's book, while Kensington Palace did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
Camilla took time to gather the courage to oppose her stepson, as revealed by Christopher Andersen, the author of "The King," in an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital.
"Andersen claimed that Camilla was so terrified at the prospect of meeting William that she trembled like a leaf and needed a vodka and tonic afterward. This is understandable since Camilla, and the world, knew she had destroyed the marriage of William’s parents, Charles and Diana."
Andersen claimed that William concealed any true feelings he had for Camilla by maintaining a stoic expression.
William was very cordial to Camilla, and their relationship has always been civil," he said. "Camilla has been shrewd enough not to ever try to instruct William in any way. Despite her earthly reputation, Camilla is not a mom type. She was never a hands-on mother with her own children and certainly would not have interfered in Charles’ relationship with his children.
Insider reports that Queen Camilla is furious with Prince Harry's decision to release his memoir, which she believes is a bomb-like expose.
"Andersen stated that Camilla is not a disciplinarian, but it is also known that she whispers in the king's ear about William and Harry's shortcomings."
Helena Chard, a British broadcaster and photographer, revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital that the king and his heir have had disagreements in the past. As a result, it wouldn't be surprising if Camilla, the queen, offered her opinion on the matter.
Prince William and his father often have disagreements due to their differing opinions and leadership styles.
Prince William is known for his analytical approach to problem-solving, carefully considering all options before taking swift action to achieve his goals. Unlike his father, he is less emotionally driven and tends to be more stubborn once he has made a decision, taking a firmer stance on issues.
Prince William is a modern royal who wants to create change within the royal family. He has always been more popular than his old-school father. Prince William's popularity used to be a thorn in his father's side, but now that Charles is king, he isn't as envious.
Queen Camilla, King Charles' confidante, ensures that Prince William is aware of his potential disrespect towards his father when necessary. However, Prince William and Queen Camilla have a good relationship now, respecting each other's strengths and understanding that despite their differences in protocol, they must support one another.
"They have to keep the ship afloat even through ill health."
Although William and Camilla's relationship has improved over time, Prince Harry portrayed his stepmother as a villain in his 2023 memoir, "Spare."
In interviews promoting his memoir, Prince Harry accused his stepmother, 76, of leaking private conversations to the media to improve her own reputation. He also accused members of the royal family of aligning themselves with the devil to gain favorable tabloid coverage, specifically mentioning Camilla's efforts to repair her image with the public after her affair with his father.
"Harry revealed to CBS that the connections she was forging within the British press made her dangerous. There was an open willingness on both sides to trade information, and with a family built on hierarchy and her on the way to being queen consort, there would be people or bodies left in the street."
The allegations against Camilla were highly sensitive due to her involvement in the dissolution of Charles' marriage to Princess Diana, who was Harry's mother.
The Princess of Wales once referred to Camilla, who had a long-term affair with Charles, as the third person in their marriage. Despite initial public rejection, Camilla has gained support through her charitable work and has helped Charles adapt to modern British culture.
Harry stated that he had complicated emotions regarding his father's 2005 marriage to Camilla, as he believed that she had put him on her personal PR agenda. Despite this, he acknowledged that he wished his father to be content.
"Even though Camilla was dangerous, I secretly wished for her happiness. Perhaps if she was content, she wouldn't pose such a threat."
Harry stated that he and William had "pleaded" with their father not to marry his long-term partner, fearing she would become a "wicked stepmother."
Andersen previously told Planet Chronicle Digital that Charles finds criticism of Camilla unforgivable.
Harry made it clear that he felt Camilla was the villain in the piece, which still bothers the king and may not be easily forgiven.
Andersen stated that the Duke of Sussex was on his own.
