Expert reveals how Prince William and Kate Middleton's shared sense of humor and competitive nature have brought them closer together.
James Middleton, brother of Kate Middleton, disclosed that Prince William would often come up with false reasons to avoid participating in family game nights because the competition was too intense.
What is the secret to Prince William and Kate Middleton's 13-year marriage? Despite being in the public eye and preparing to be the future king and queen consort, experts told Planet Chronicle Digital that their playful nature is what keeps them together and something they are passing on to their three children.
"According to Christopher Andersen, author of "The King," William once characterized Kate's sense of humor as "naughty" and his own as "dirty," stating that it was a significant factor in their attraction to one another. Although they have since toned down their humor for the sake of their children, they can still make each other laugh uncontrollably."
"William and Kate have passed on their wacky, slapstick sense of humor to their children, Andersen shared. Like all parents of young children, they find themselves refereeing when the kids fight over the TV remote or when the inevitable teasing between siblings turns into a wrestling match."
James Middleton's revelation on the "Walking the Dog" podcast about William's aversion to the Middleton family game nights due to their competitiveness prompted Andersen's statements.
"The royal family was known for their love of competition, with Queen Elizabeth II being particularly fond of horse racing and tug-of-war at the Highland Games. Prince Philip was a skilled four-in-hand carriage driver, while Princess Anne excelled in equestrian events at the Olympics. King Charles, on the other hand, was an avid polo player who suffered numerous injuries while playing the sport."
"Andersen stated that the royals resembled pikers compared to the Middletons, who instilled in Kate the notion that winning was paramount. William and Kate's card games were highly competitive and consumed them entirely, with William frequently making excuses to avoid being drawn into the fray. However, when away from the Middleton in-laws, who were known for their win-at-all-costs mentality, William was not afraid to challenge Kate in a competition."
"William once described Kate's sense of humor as ‘naughty’ and his own as ‘dirty,’ and claimed that it was one of the most important things that drew them together." — Christopher Andersen, author of "The King"
"The royal siblings have inherited their parents' competitive nature, which has manifested in their participation in various activities such as foot races, swimming races, board games, and card games. However, this competitiveness often results in heated arguments about cheating and breaking rules, causing game boards to be thrown and pieces to fly."
The family leader, as Andersen observed, is not the Prince or Princess of Wales.
"Charlotte is the "Louis-whisperer" in the family, as she is the best at getting her younger brother to behave when he misbehaves to seek attention."
"Since Kate's cancer diagnosis, the children have become more attentive to their mother's need for more tranquility than usual, as Andersen stated. However, the family's overall dynamics, including the busy schedule of school, extracurricular activities, birthday celebrations, and playdates, have remained unchanged. The family's ability to maintain a sense of normalcy has undoubtedly played a crucial role in Kate's recovery."
Unlike William and Kate, who grew up in privileged backgrounds, Hilary Fordwich, a British royals expert, told Planet Chronicle Digital that Kate, 42, has incorporated her "most normal background" into her royal household.
"Fordwich stated that Kate was accustomed to chores because her parents were occupied with growing their Party Pieces business, which her mother Carole Middleton established. Kate played a crucial role in creating party supplies for babies and young children, understanding the importance of active and engaged children learning responsibilities. Currently, Prince George is responsible for cleaning out their pet guinea pig's cage."
Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal expert, revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital that Prince William desires to provide his children with a sense of normalcy within the palace walls.
"Since marrying Catherine, William has worked hard to maintain a normal life for himself and his family."
"Royal tours typically included archery, cricket, or sailing competitions, which added a competitive element to normally routine activities, he shared."
Kate has resumed private meetings at Windsor Castle and public royal engagements since announcing she was cancer-free in September. Helena Chard, a British broadcaster and photographer, told Planet Chronicle Digital that the Prince and Princess of Wales have continued to be hands-on parents and have introduced their passions to their children.

""Princess Catherine and Prince William share a love for sports, the outdoors, team spirit, and have passed on their passions to their children. They have always been a caring and down-to-earth family. Since Princess Catherine's cancer scare, I sense a renewed energy and vitality in them all," said Chard."
"Princess Catherine cheering on Prince Louis at his football match thrilled the other mums who she chatted with freely. The mums were impressed by her charming, gentle superpower, which is also the strength behind her husband. I enjoy seeing Princess Charlotte's care, empathy, and love toward her brothers at events. I see the Wales family becoming more and more the people's family."
Chard remarked, "It's heartwarming to see them as the future of our royal family."
William was immediately attracted to Kate's "sporty" personality, and they married in 2011.
Kate has consistently been characterized as 'sporty,'" Andersen stated. "This trait was a significant factor in William's attraction to her. Additionally, her athleticism made her a suitable match for the active royal family. It's possible that Kate is the most sporty royal of all. In high school, she excelled in hockey and tennis. Furthermore, she is an accomplished skier, runner, and sailor.
"Kate stands out from the royal pack due to her ability to always execute anything with a smile. Her skill in sports is particularly impressive, as she never makes a mistake."
