Elton John now wears his old kneecap as a pendant around his neck after his recent health scare.
The singer-songwriter of 'Tiny Dancer' disclosed that he has undergone two knee replacements, in addition to other surgeries.
Elton John is known for his flamboyant accessories, but his latest one may be the most distinctive yet.
According to Us Weekly, Elton John wore his old kneecap as a necklace while walking the red carpet at the premiere of his documentary "Elton John: Never Too Late" at the London Film Festival.
At the New York Film Festival, the performer disclosed that he has undergone numerous surgeries recently, including replacing both knees, jokingly stating "I'm not much flesh and blood left."
"John revealed to People that he lacks tonsils, adenoids, an appendix, and a prostate. Additionally, he does not possess a right hip or a left knee. In fact, he only retains his left hip."
The musician has shared details about his recent health struggles, including a "severe eye infection" he suffered in the summer, which reduced his vision in one eye.
In August 2023, John was hospitalized after falling at his home in France. He discussed the impact of his health on his relationships with his sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, in his documentary.
In the documentary, John stated, "They worry about my mortality, not so much David's, but mine."
John and Furnish have been together since they met in 1993 at a dinner party hosted by a mutual friend. They registered as a civil partnership in December 2005 and later got married in December 2014, marking the ninth anniversary of their civil partnership.
John, the singer-songwriter's father, is not the only one who ponders his mortality. He admits that although he desires to be present for his sons' weddings and the birth of their grandchildren, he doesn't believe he will live long enough to witness these milestones. As a result, John strives to make the most of his time while he is still alive.
John's Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in November 2022 culminates in a final concert in North America, and the documentary captures his journey as he prepares for this momentous occasion. As he reflects on his long and illustrious career, John shares his thoughts on the highs and lows that have led him to this point.
"During certain scenes in the film, I felt overwhelmed with anxiety and emotion. As the co-director, I was responsible for capturing Elton's authentic voice and heart, which was both a burden and a joy for me because I knew a side of him that the rest of the world didn't see. I believe we have achieved this goal."
As a musician, John has achieved great success, selling over 300 million records worldwide and becoming one of only 21 entertainers to have reached EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) status. He is also the first solo artist with U.K. top 10 singles across six decades, with more than 50 Top-40 hits in both the U.K. and the U.S. Additionally, John has had seven consecutive No. 1 albums in the U.S.
Disney+ will release "Elton John: Never Too Late" on Dec. 13.
