During the tense final months before their tragic plane crash, John F Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette were undergoing counseling, according to a new book.

John F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, were experiencing marital difficulties before their tragic demise.

On July 16, 1999, a single-engine private plane piloted by John F. Kennedy Jr. crashed into the Atlantic Ocean while flying from New Jersey to Martha's Vineyard. The 38-year-old pilot and his 33-year-old wife were killed, along with his sister-in-law, Lauren Bessette, who was 34 years old.

"Elizabeth Beller, author, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that multiple sources confirmed they were in marriage counseling. She viewed this as a positive step towards resolving their issues and believed their relationship was improving."

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's life is the focus of a new book written by Beller, twenty-five years after the tragedy. The book, titled "Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy," delves into her marriage with "America's Prince" and their final years together.

Numerous sources close to the pair were spoken to by Beller over the years.

"In 1999, their marriage experienced fluctuations, as John's cousin and best friend, Anthony Radziwill, was battling cancer. Despite appearances of happiness and love, many friends noted the tension surrounding the couple. John and Carolyn were deeply concerned about Anthony's health, and the outside pressures added to their stress."

Carolyn, a lifelong diligent worker, was unable to cope with the constant media attention. She was suddenly overwhelmed by the intense scrutiny. I believe it was crippling for her and likely led to depression.

"She was contemplating making documentary films to depict the underrepresented, while also pondering John's next move if he planned to run for office and continue his family's legacy. The anticipation was high due to his last name."

"John and she both had to figure things out," Beller added.

Beller's book stated that when Kennedy Jr. proposed, Bessette-Kennedy was initially reluctant to accept. Eventually, they got married on September 21, 1996.

"Beller stated that she knew John would eventually enter politics, which would result in a public life. However, they were not prepared for the intense media attention from the paparazzi. No one anticipated the level of frenzy that would follow. As a result, it became challenging for them to maintain a private life."

The media labeled Bessette-Kennedy as a "gold digger" and a "coke head." Paparazzi would shout vulgarities at her whenever she emerged from the couple's Tribeca loft, hoping to capture any reaction to boost sales.

According to Beller's book, Bessette-Kennedy was so terrified to leave her home that she began taking antidepressants.

"Beller stated that Carolyn became scared and withdrew, which portrayed her negatively in the media. She was portrayed as icy and cold. However, her friends knew her to be anything but. She was a wonderful friend to those who were close to her."

Beller said, "John was resolute in safeguarding her and exerted himself greatly."

Misconceptions persist about the final days of the couple, as stated by Beller.

"The story that [Carolyn] was responsible for the [accident] because she delayed taking off is not true, as it was written by a man who claimed to be a friend of Jackie's but was not. However, this story has become a part of the narrative, despite the fact that [Carolyn] did not ask anyone to change her nail polish three times."

"Beller shared that it was a sticky hot Friday with New York City bumper-to-bumper traffic. The 45-minute trip turned into an hour and 15 minutes. Despite this, they all arrived at the airport within minutes of one another. Unfortunately, the weather changed very quickly, and they found themselves in 'pea soup' as it's described. You can't see."

Beller's book revealed that Bessette-Kennedy made a last-minute decision to fly with her husband for his cousin's July 17 wedding.

"Beller stated that Carolyn was not interested in attending another event because she was working for George magazine, which was facing financial difficulties. She was traveling to search for other publishers and sell ads for the magazine. Despite her love for Rory Kennedy, she needed a break from the constant work."

"According to Beller, John was extremely disappointed that she did not attend, resulting in a heated argument. Despite this, she eventually went, and John was ecstatic to have her with him. In my opinion, their decision to go together demonstrates their continued commitment."

Beller stated that Bessette-Kennedy was eager for a fresh start in both her personal and professional life, and she believed her famous spouse wanted to be with her.

"Beller stated that although she was not intimidated by John's celebrity, she was intimidated by the paparazzi following her everywhere. She did not believe fame added value to her life and saw it as a thief of joy. John appreciated this because he had fame thrust upon him his whole life and recognized that she was not interested in his money or fame. Instead, she was with him because they loved each other."

Despite the uncertainty of their marriage's longevity, friends believed the couple was committed to overcoming their challenges together. Kennedy Jr. was reportedly considering starting a family and had begun exploring homes outside of New York City.

"Beller stated, "I am unsure if they would have remained together, but I do know that they deeply loved each other. Given their circumstances, they were pushing each other to grow in ways that we all need to in relationships. It's about managing our lives and our spouse's life, which becomes more challenging when there is an additional entity to deal with, such as having a child.""

"Beller mused, "Although I'm unsure if they'd still be together, it was evident they deeply loved each other. I believe they were collaborating to foster their growth.""
