During the CMA Awards, tribute was paid to Hurricane Helene victims; Luke Combs and Eric Church honored the victims.
On Wednesday night, during the 2024 CMA Awards, the church sang his hit song 'Darkest Hour'.
Luke Combs and Eric Church held a concert last month to raise funds for Hurricane Helene relief. At the 2024 CMA Awards, Combs discussed their efforts before introducing Church to the stage.
Church sang "Darkest Hour (Helene Edition)" after revealing that he and Combs raised over 24 million dollars for Hurricane Helene victims in North Carolina, and announced that all proceeds from the song would be donated to help hurricane victims.
A choir of singers and a small orchestra joined Church during his moving performance, which was accompanied by pictures on screen depicting the devastation caused by the storm, relief efforts, loved ones embracing one another, crosses, and American flags standing strong.
Combs and Church, both North Carolina natives, were affected by the hurricane's destruction.
Church previously told Planet Chronicle Digital that he remembered a video of an area in western North Carolina that he knew intimately, but he didn't recognize it. It was stunning to him to see this area that he grew up in and was familiar with.
Combs stated that the place holds a lot of memories for him and he hates to see its current condition.
An event called the Concert for Carolina was organized by country stars and hosted by ESPN's Marty Smith and Barstool Sports' Caleb Pressley. The concert took place at Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina.
Many renowned artists, including James Taylor, Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, Billy Strings, Bailey Zimmerman, Scotty McCreery, Chase Rice, The Avett Brothers, and Parmalee, performed, along with special appearances from Nicole Kidman and Randy Travis.
During the show, Church announced that his organization would be constructing 100 homes for Hurricane Helene victims.
Over 82,000 people attended the event, which was planned quickly and saw no shortage of attendees.
