During a concert, Lainey Wilson was spat on while making eye contact with the perpetrator.
Lainey Wilson, a country star, believes there are cruel individuals in the world after she was spat upon during a performance last year.
After a concertgoer spat on her during a show last year, Lainey Wilson opted to keep it "rolling."
During a "Taste of Country Nights, on Demand" interview, the Grammy winner recounted the instant she locked eyes with the projectile as it flew past her.
"During our headlining tour last year, someone spat on me while I was performing on stage. Although I considered confronting the perpetrator, I ultimately decided to let it go and continued with the show."
A lot went through the country star's head during that moment.
"But, also, there are some mean people in the world. Additionally, they could have been drunk and just being silly."
"I saw it coming through the air. It was like I made eye contact with the spit, and it just lands on me and I'm just like, (sings) 'I got a heart like a truck.' That's how I felt." — Lainey Wilson
The "weirdest" part for Wilson was watching the spit approaching her.
She described the sensation of being hit by a spit as if she had made eye contact with it, and it landed on her, leaving her feeling like she had a heart as tough as a truck.
In July, Wilson experienced a wardrobe malfunction onstage and split her pants, which was not the first time she has encountered an unexpected situation at a show.
Wilson joked, "You almost got a real show!" before changing her outfit.
She continued with her performance, but was relieved that her team caught the tear in her pants before her fans noticed.
"I'm glad it was you who saw me split my pants wide open in front of," Wilson said. "I never would have known had my people not been here to witness it."
Wilson's Whirlwind Tour is in full swing as she releases her latest album, a decade after her debut record. The country music star described her journey in Nashville as a "whirlwind" in an interview with The Associated Press.
"She shared with the outlet that she has been in Nashville for 13 years and expressed how she feels like she arrived there yesterday, yet also feels like she has always been there."
In February, Wilson, who thirteen years ago left the 200-person town of Baskin, Louisiana to pursue her dream of being a country music star, won her first Grammy.
