Dr. Terry Dubrow dismisses cheating rumors and internet gossip, stating, "You get used to it."
Heather Dubrow, a star on 'Real Housewives of Orange County,' has been married to Dr. Dubrow for 24 years.
Despite cheating rumors and internet criticism, "Botched" star Dr. Terry Dubrow remains unphased.
Dubrow told Planet Chronicle Digital that it seems like everyone is trying to bring down a successful and stable person.
Heather Dubrow, a "Real Housewives of Orange County" star, has been married to Dubrow for 24 years and they have four children, twins Nick and Max, and Kat and Ace.
The plastic surgeon disclosed that his family is accustomed to internet rumors and dismisses them as a joke.
"They've been on our reality show for 15 years, but they don't pay close attention, especially to social media. They don't see the same content as adults because they're not looking at the same social media platforms. Therefore, it's not really an issue," he stated.
Dubrow revealed that he and Heather posted a photo on social media to commemorate New Year's Eve. His hair had been recently cut and dyed, but he accidentally left the dye on for too long, resulting in his hair being darker than usual.
He said that he looked like he had used too much hair dye, which prompted 750 trolling comments. From then on, people started saying he was terrible looking and had undergone a lot of plastic surgery, unlike him.
He added, "And if I did, I'd be happy to confess it."
Dubrow stated that he observed articles emerge from the post and shared them with his children, who found it amusing. As a result, they now tease him about his hair as well. Consequently, one becomes accustomed to it.
I couldn't function as a husband and family member if I was preoccupied with negative comments, rumors, or other internet concerns. Being on a reality show can be challenging, but you eventually get used to it and it becomes less overwhelming.
The 65-year-old acknowledged that some of the trolling can be "vicious," but he is the first to admit it about himself.
""If I were bothered enough, I would fix my appearance, but I have other things to worry about," he said."
Dubrow discusses his long-lasting marriage to Heather and shares his insights on how they've maintained it for nearly 25 years.
"Dubrow joked, "My wife would prefer separate bathrooms, but I believe there are crucial elements to maintaining a successful long-term relationship.""
Acknowledging struggles and challenges is crucial for a positive, long-term relationship, as stated by the California-born and raised doctor.
He says he and his wife focus on two important things.
The first is intimacy and maintaining a closeness in their relationship.
"Dubrow explained that they schedule intimate moments and make jokes about them, but it's like having a date tonight, which means getting ready."
The other key is how they handle any arguments or disagreements.
Our rules prohibit fighting and arguing, even when alcohol is involved. Additionally, we do not engage in problem-solving activities on Friday and Saturday nights at midnight before going to bed.
"People often advise against going to bed angry, but I say, go to bed angry! Resolve the issue in the morning when emotions are less intense and you won't act impulsively."
Dubrow advises treating your spouse as if you want them to marry you, not as if they have already been married to you for years. He suggests putting the brakes on inappropriate behavior and avoiding fights when alcohol or sleep deprivation is involved.
Their enduring relationship has been vital not only for their romantic bond but also for their physical well-being.
In August, Dubrow had a transient ischemic attack (TIA) while dining with his wife and son in Beverly Hills. Dubrow briefly slurred his speech, prompting Heather to instruct their son, Nicholas, 19, to call 911.
Heather convinced Dubrow to visit a hospital despite his belief that he was healthy. Following a battery of tests, physicians discovered that Dubrow possessed a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a minute aperture in the heart.
Dubrow told Planet Chronicle Digital that he was doing exceptionally well and had been extremely fortunate.
He explained how it can impact patients, whether they're young, like Hailey Bieber and Aubrey Plaza, or older, like himself.
"I was born with a patent foramen ovale, a small hole in my heart, and a tiny clot passed through it and entered my brain, causing temporary symptoms."
Heather's admission that Dubrow was ignoring his own symptoms has made him forever grateful.
"My wife made me go to the hospital for a checkup, and I was diagnosed with a significant condition that required an 11-minute procedure through my groin by a skilled cardiologist. Fortunately, I am now 100% cured and won't have to worry about it happening again."
Dubrow has become an advocate for stroke awareness and prevention since the health scare.
"He stated, "I am grateful for the experience because we were able to utilize our platform to promote this possibility and reduce the likelihood of it happening to others. If it does occur, it is crucial to ensure that individuals receive prompt emergency assistance, as they only have an hour to get to the hospital and have the clot dissolve. My clot was small and didn't require dissolving, which is why it was only temporary. However, when a person experiences a real stroke due to obstructions or clots, immediate treatment and clot-busting drugs are necessary.""
He stated, "People with platforms are often given things to effect change. When negative situations arise, we should not only focus on them, learn from them, but also help others in similar circumstances. I am glad it happened."
