Dollywood invites Kate Middleton and the royal family to experience Dolly Parton's cooking this Thanksgiving.
In 2023, the Princess of Wales missed her opportunity to have tea with Parton.
Dolly Parton has a special guest in mind for Thanksgiving this year.
In a recent interview with Closer, Parton discussed the possibility of inviting Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their three children to celebrate Thanksgiving at Dollywood.
"I would be thrilled if they came to Dollywood, as it would be amazing for the kids to experience all the rides and feel like royalty. I wouldn't pretend to be anything other than myself and would simply let them enjoy what we enjoy. I would be happy to share my mashed potatoes with Kate, and I'm sure they would appreciate it. I would love to have the kids at Dollywood."
In 2023, the renowned country singer was unable to meet the Princess of Wales due to a scheduling conflict that prevented her from accepting an invitation to tea at Buckingham Palace. At that time, Parton was occupied with promoting her latest album, "Rockstar."
In an interview with BBC Radio 2 in August 2023, Parton admitted that she "felt so bad" and couldn't attend, joking that Middleton "wasn't going to promote my rock album, so I had to say no."
In February 2023, Parton revealed to Business Insider that she has always been fascinated by the royal family, viewing them as a world apart with their wealth, crowns, and jewels. Although she missed the opportunity to have tea with Middleton, she had the chance to meet Queen Elizabeth in 1977 and described her as "very sweet."
"Despite having to follow the protocol and bow, I could sense that she didn't care about it. It was just something she had to do. If someone made a mistake, it was okay. I was terrified of not knowing how to curtsy or not bending correctly, but she was incredibly warm and sweet. Meeting the Queen of England was incredible, just to meet a queen."
Dolly Parton, while widely recognized as a country singer, commenced her acting career in 1980 with the hit comedy classic "9 to 5," alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. She later starred in the critically acclaimed 1989 film "Steel Magnolias," alongside Julia Roberts and Sally Field.
In April 2024, it was reported that Jennifer Aniston was collaborating with Diablo Cody to produce a remake of "9 to 5" through her production company, Echo Films.
In June 2024, Parton shared with E! News that she hoped the remake would use her song and that they might find a way to have her, Lily, and Jane return.
"I’d give Kate my mashed potatoes – I wouldn’t put on any airs for them. I would just let them enjoy what we enjoy, and I’m sure that’s the way they would want it. I would love to have those kids at Dollywood." — Dolly Parton
The theme song of the movie was written by Parton, who detailed the challenges of being a woman in a male-dominated workplace through both music and lyrics.
Three women devise a plan to retaliate against their oppressive and misogynistic manager and eventually seize control of the company, despite being denied promotions despite their merits.
