Dolly Parton reveals she's ready to start a diet after indulging in holiday feasts.
On Christmas, Parton prepares a grand feast for her loved ones, featuring mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and turkey, among other dishes.
Dolly Parton doesn't worry much about enjoying the holidays.
In an interview with Closer magazine, Dolly Parton revealed some of her family's favorite holiday traditions. According to Parton, her family doesn't worry about overindulging during the holidays.
"We all start eating around Thanksgiving and continue until the first of January, and then we all go on our diets. That's how it usually goes," she said to the outlet, according to the Daily Mail. "So you think, 'Well, I'm not going to even think about dieting now. I'm just going to eat everything I want to.'"
While indulging in holiday food and stretching out your clothes, Parton acknowledged that she doesn't mind because she knows she'll be ready for a diet after the first of the year.
The singer revealed that she celebrates Christmas with her family and each generation of kids has a unique nickname for her, such as "Granny Claus, Dolly Claus, or Gigi Claus."
""For years, I've been doing that since I had my younger siblings. Now, their children have children, and Christmas is a significant event for us," she stated."
Her extended family and she enjoy a large feast cooked by Parton as part of their family Christmas tradition.

Parton pairs her dinner with wine from her label, which she describes as versatile and suitable for various dishes.
She cooks a big feast that includes turkey and ham, black eyed peas and cornbread dressing, as well as a lot of mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and other side dishes.
Another significant aspect of Parton's Christmas festivities is her family and she gathering around the piano and singing classic Christmas tunes, such as "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and "Silent Night."
This year, Dolly Parton expressed her desire to spend Thanksgiving with the royal family and extend an invitation to them for a holiday celebration at Dollywood.
"She expressed her desire for the kids to visit Dollywood, stating that they could enjoy all the rides and be treated like royalty. She would offer her mashed potatoes to Kate without any pretensions and allow them to enjoy what they love. She believes that the kids would want it that way and would love having them at Dollywood."
In 2023, the legendary country singer missed her opportunity to meet the Princess of Wales due to a scheduling conflict that prevented her from accepting an invitation to tea at Buckingham Palace.
