Despite turning down several massive Hollywood hits, 'Reagan' star Dennis Quaid has no regrets.
On April 9, the artist of the gospel record 'Fallen: A Gospel Record for Sinners' turns 70.
Dennis Quaid is content with his career trajectory because of his choices.
In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Quaid stated that despite not having starred in large films, he has no regrets.
"I don't regret any of them. Instead of 'Big,' I did 'The Big Easy,' which kick-started my career, and you can't have everything," he said. "That's how it is."
Quaid waits for roles to come to him and has passed on some that became legendary films.
"Quaid stated that he had good reasons for passing on certain movies, including "Big," "A League of Their Own," "Peggy Sue Got Married," and "The Dukes of Hazzard.""
The biopic "Reagan," about the 40th president of the United States, was acquired for North American distribution by ShowBiz Direct in March.
Quaid found it intriguing to prepare to portray Ronald Reagan because he was the first president he ever voted for. The actor aimed to convey more than just an impersonation of the former president, which proved challenging.
""One of the most challenging roles I've had was to understand and connect with a private, mysterious person who was a great communicator," he stated."
In this role, I gained a wealth of knowledge not only about myself but also about him. He was the one who defeated the Soviets in the Cold War, a conflict that lasted nearly half a century, without resorting to violence. He led us through difficult times, similar to what we are currently facing, with integrity rather than simply adhering to the political climate of the day.
According to Deadline, "Reagan" is predicted to be released in theaters on August 30th.
Quaid stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that he has decided not to celebrate his 70th birthday and instead will "disregard" it.
Starting a new decade feels surreal," admitted the actor from "The Parent Trap.
"I'm going to pretend I'm not turning 70 because it doesn't seem real to me."
Quaid, who turned 70 on April 9, has had a successful career in the film industry. He said that his biggest goal during his movie-making career was to take on diverse roles.
"Being an actor is amazing because it allows you to explore different lives and gain unique experiences. You can research and live through various roles that you would never have the chance to encounter otherwise. You get to go through doors that are off-limits to the general public and gain valuable insights into different fields."
Quaid said his career has been "incredible."
"I've been surprised every year, so my strategy has been to take on various roles throughout my career, and I believe I've accomplished that."
In July 2023, Quaid released his debut gospel album, "Fallen: A Gospel Record for Sinners," and earlier this month, he celebrated the DVD premiere of his album.
""My spiritual journey is depicted in the autobiographical account," he stated."
