Despite scandals, Fergie would marry ex Prince Andrew 'all over again'
The Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson will not be celebrating Christmas with the royal family due to allegations linking the Duke to Chinese espionage.
Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, fondly recalls being "completely and utterly in love" with the Duke of York when they tied the knot in 1986, and cherishes the memories of their marriage.
Even though Ferguson and her ex-husband divorced 10 years ago, she would still marry him today if given the chance.
Despite their divorce, the Duke and Duchess of York continue to reside together at Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate. The duchess has remained loyal to Prince Andrew throughout his legal battles, including his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his alleged ties to a Chinese spy.
The Duchess of York stated in an interview with The Sunday Times that she would marry the prince again if she had the chance. She described him as a "great man with a great heart" and said that their wedding was the best day of her life.
That day, she gave up her anonymity because love conquers all. It's still with us today. She won't let him down because he supports her as much as she supports him. He's supported her through thick and thin, not just marriage or divorce. They agree on the three Cs – communication, compromise, and compassion.
"He’s the best, a great man with a great heart, and kind. Our wedding was the best day of my life." — Sarah Ferguson
Fergie recalled how "everyone adored" her during their marriage. She admitted that the admiration was "addictive."
I believe my mistake was getting lost while trying to emulate Diana," she stated. "I was addicted to food and my ability to eat my feelings was what kept me alive.
"In 1988, I weighed over 14 stone when I gave birth to Beatrice. I suspect I suffered from postnatal depression. People mocked me, calling me the "Duchess of Pork." I internalized their criticism. However, the Queen never abandoned me. Her final words to me, "Sarah, remember that you are good enough," still bring tears to my eyes."
The Duke of York, who is eighth in line to the throne, lost his military affiliations and royal patronages in January 2022 due to his controversial friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of sexual assault.
Andrew is no longer a senior working royal due to his friendship with Epstein.
The royal family, including Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will not be attending morning church services or lunch at Sandringham House following a new scandal involving the prince, according to People magazine.
According to Sky News, Prince Andrew recently had contact with an alleged Chinese spy. On Friday, his office released a statement stating that he had cut ties with the Chinese businessman on the advice of officials, but that the pair had never discussed anything of a "sensitive nature."
After High Court restrictions were lifted Monday, Yang Tengbo, a Chinese businessman, was publicly named for the first time.
Tengbo denied being a spy for Prince Andrew, stating that the widespread description of him as such is entirely false.
