Dennis Quaid attributes his successful marriage to God, stating, "She's the shining light in my life."
Laura Savoie is 39 years younger than her 'Long Game' co-star.
Dennis Quaid is indifferent to the opinions of others regarding the age gap between him and his spouse, Laura Savoie.
The actor revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital that he hasn't publicly discussed the age difference between him and his wife, but others have. However, he stated that he doesn't often think about it.
She's so busy that I barely notice her, but she's the light of my life.
He added, "It's God who put us together. She came along unexpectedly, and I wasn't searching for her."
In June 2020, the couple got married in Santa Barbara, California, after meeting a year prior at a business event while she was pursuing her second master's degree at the Texas McCombs School of Business, as stated on her LinkedIn profile.
DENNIS QUAID REVEALS THAT HE IGNORES THE AGE GAP WITH HIS WIFE: "I DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO IT"
In 2019, Quaid discussed their relationship with The Guardian prior to their marriage.
"He stated that public criticism of their age gap does not bother them, as everyone has their own perspective and he cannot comment on their feelings or get angry."
I didn't intentionally seek out an age gap or someone significantly younger than me; instead, I met her at a business event and our relationship evolved.
""I can't let others' opinions control my love life. I've been married three times and this is the final one, I know it is. I feel like I have a real partner in life," he said."
He also highlighted the importance of faith in their marriage.
Quaid stated to "Extra" that his relationship with his wife is blessed by God, which is something he had never experienced before.
He added, "We have such a beautiful relationship, and we pray together."
"The Long Game," directed by Quaid and Savoie, is a film produced by their company, Bonniedale. It is based on the true story of a group of young Mexican-American teenagers who, despite racial barriers, decided to take up golf and formed a team. The film stars Quaid and Jay Hernandez.
Quaid maintains his sobriety and strengthens his marriage through his faith.
He shared with People magazine that he experienced a "white light" moment last year, which made him realize he needed to make a change in his life.
Quaid recounted to the outlet how he had a white light experience at home, where he saw himself either deceased, imprisoned, or losing everything he owned, and he did not desire that outcome.
These days, it's a breeze," he told Planet Chronicle Digital, although he admitted that it took about four years of "gritting my teeth.
"Then it was just about finding something to fill that void. For me, that's God, who fills that void. There's life after everything. These days I'm more thankful than anything else and just enjoying every day," he said, chuckling, "Still here!"
Nashville, Tennessee is where Quaid currently resides with Savoie, and he has developed a deep affection for the city.
"I love it there," Quaid said. "It might be my favorite place I've lived. It's such a collegial community. The people there, your neighbors and artists, it just feels like it's alive there."
Like 20 years ago in some ways, the place reminded him of Austin, Texas. Its own town, it was just beautiful, he added.
