Cowboy lifestyle craving sparked by 'Yellowstone' TV show, says rancher.
The McBee family, consisting of Steve McBee and his four sons, are featured in the reality show 'The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys.'
Steve McBee, a rancher-turned-reality star, discussed the impact of "Yellowstone" on Western culture.
The 52-year-old entrepreneur is the founder and owner of McBee Farm and Cattle, a farming and ranching empire on 40,000 acres of land in Missouri. He is also the star of the reality series "The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys," which has been called the "real-life Yellowstone."
In an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, McBee discussed how "Yellowstone" has contributed to the growing popularity of the cowboy lifestyle.
"Raising food and cattle is in our DNA and genetics, and it's how we survive," he said.
McBee stated, "Regardless of whether you are an analyst for a hedge fund on Wall Street, if you see a 'Yellowstone' and have a desire to be on a horse or driving a tractor, raising crops, then that's all that matters."
"Beyoncé's rise to fame was a segue into bringing country music to the Western world," he said.
"The topic of farming, ranching, and agriculture is a hot button issue, and I believe there is a lot of opportunity to educate consumers on the positive impact we have on the environment and the food they consume. As such, I think we should use this platform to promote these benefits."
McBee admitted to Planet Chronicle Digital that he rarely watches TV due to his busy work schedule, but he made an exception to watch "Yellowstone" and some episodes of a popular reality series in order to prepare for his role in "The McBee Dynasty."
Steve McBee, a reality star on Rancher, discusses the differences between his show and "Yellowstone" and "The Kardashians."
He watched four episodes of "The Kardashians" to understand reality TV and thought, "I'm not sure," but decided to do some background research.
Steven Jr. starred on the Fox reality dating show "Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer" in 2022. While filming scenes at the family ranch, producers became intrigued after getting an in-depth look at the family's interactions and day-to-day life.
The McBees, after the conclusion of "Joe Millionaire," were approached by various production companies for their own show and ultimately decided to collaborate with Jeff Jenkins Productions. "The McBee Dynasty" premiered on the USA Network and Peacock on March 11.
During an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, McBee commended NBC, Peacock, and Jeff Jenkins Productions for granting the family a significant amount of autonomy during the filming of the series.
"He remembered how they were like, "Just be authentic. Just be yourselves. We're just going to be flies on the wall," and how they followed us around."
The show not only focuses on family relationships but also portrays the difficulties of managing the large ranch and other McBee enterprises, such as McBee's Coffee N Carwash and McBee Meat Company.
We laugh so much because with all the different businesses and the farm and ranch being the largest, everything ties back to that," he said. "Each day presents a new crisis. One thing I'd like to emphasize is that, after watching a few shows, I believe we are the most realistic reality show out there because what happened on that show was real. It's just the truth of running a farm, a ranch, or a business.
"Every day, you encounter various challenging circumstances," McBee stated. "It seems like the sky is constantly falling."
McBee believes "The McBee Dynasty" offers a more realistic portrayal of managing a ranching business compared to "Yellowstone."
He remembered saying for many years that they were a reality show, with the action on their farm, ranch, and businesses being so unpredictable and full of personalities that it was impossible to make up the stories they experienced daily.
Our show's authenticity is unmatched; it's as real as it gets.
He joked that he wouldn't be taking anyone to the train station, but they were getting close to the location where the Dutton family of Yellowstone disposes of their enemies and dead bodies.
"The McBee Dynasty" is a show that blends elements of "Yellowstone" and "Succession." It focuses on the competition among the brothers to become the next leader of the family business. The first season centers on the family's attempt to sell McBee Farm and Cattle, which could lead to the collapse of the business if the deal falls through.
Running the business with his sons is a blessing and a curse for McBee, as he told Planet Chronicle Digital.
"However, it undeniably has more advantages," he stated. "It's undeniably more positive aspects than negative ones. You understand, there are obstacles that many individuals do not encounter in their daily business because they lack a personal connection. Nevertheless, that personal connection is what adds worth and value to the entire experience, regardless of what transpired during working hours."
Steve McBee, a reality star on Rancher, claims that the show Yellowstone sparks a desire for the cowboy way of life.
Besides exploring the family's business dealings, "The McBee Dynasty" also examines the intricate romantic entanglements of McBee and his sons. McBee and his wife Kirsti ended their nearly 30-year marriage, and the patriarch is currently embroiled in a love triangle with McBee Farm and Cattle CFO Galyna Saltkovska and waitress Brooke.
McBee has conveyed to both women that he has no intention of getting married again and is not looking for a long-term commitment.
During an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, McBee discussed his romantic relationships on the show and shared his views on potential future relationships.
He candidly stated that his love life on the show's first season was a complicated deal.
While I receive some hate, I experience more love because of my transparency.
Steve McBee, a rancher, explains why his reality show, 'The McBee Dynasty,' is the most authentic.
McBee stated that he went through a divorce after 28 years. He added that his sons' mother is the same as all four of his boys. Although he loves her deeply and will always, he does not wish to be in a committed relationship or remarried. He sees no purpose in it and has no plans to have more children.
For me, my stance on marriage is situational. I receive criticism for my views, but I'm not discouraging others from getting married. I'm simply expressing my personal preference.
"I want to be truthful and direct. I won't deceive a woman. And I simply reveal my thoughts."
The first season of the show features three of McBee's sons' girlfriends, including Calah Jackson, who is still dating Steven Jr. after winning "Joe Millionaire." Fans can witness the couples' attempts to navigate their relationships' challenges.
McBee told Planet Chronicle Digital what love advice he's given his sons.
"Choosing the mother of your children is a significant decision that should not be made hastily. There is a distinction between lust and love, and it's crucial to consider the long-term consequences of your choice. It's essential to be patient and make a well-informed decision, as the woman you choose will have a significant impact on your children's lives."
The Peacock streaming service has all episodes of "The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys" available for viewing.
