During Trump's rallies over the past year, the '70s disco group Village People have been a staple, with hits like "Y.M.C.A" and "Macho Man" being played.
The group has been scheduled to perform at one of Trump's inaugural balls and a rally he's holding in Washington on the day before his inauguration.
On Monday, the Village People posted a statement on Facebook stating that they believe music should be performed without any consideration for politics, even though they know it may not please everyone.
"Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that aims to unite the country after a divisive election where our preferred candidate did not win. As a result, we believe that music is the best way to bring the country together, which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events during the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump."
Opera singer Christopher Macchio will perform during Trump's inauguration festivities, along with Greenwood.
