Carrie Underwood successfully performs at Trump inauguration despite earlier musical error.
At Donald Trump's inauguration, "America The Beautiful" was sung by Underwood.
At the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Monday, Carrie Underwood showcased both her musical talent and professional expertise.
At the inauguration, held inside the Rotunda at the U.S. Capitol, Underwood was escorted and awaited her musical cue to sing "America The Beautiful" in front of Trump, his family, distinguished politicians, and other celebrities.
But no cue would come.
She quickly realized that the instrumental track was not functioning, so she had to improvise. "If you know the words, please assist me," she began before singing a cappella.
Carrie Underwood, the "American Idol" winner and now judge, received praise on social media for her handling of a situation. One person wrote, "This pretty much sums up the spirit of America. When you're faced with a problem, you don't stop. You keep moving ahead -- proudly. Kudos to @carrieunderwood. Well done!"
"This was badass," another person wrote.
Last week, it was announced that Underwood, who is known for staying away from politics, would be performing at Trump's inauguration. In a statement, the country superstar expressed her love for the country and her honor at being asked to sing at the inauguration and be a part of the historic event.
This is a developing story. Check back later for more updates.
