Carrie Underwood defended by Trump inauguration performer Lee Greenwood against critics.
On January 20th, President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration will feature Underwood singing 'America the Beautiful'.
Lee Greenwood is defending Carrie Underwood after she received mixed reactions for performing at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
"Carrie Underwood is a great artist, as she stated on Friday to Planet Chronicle Digital. She has a great singing voice and has performed with her before. She will undoubtedly do a great job singing "America the Beautiful" at the Capitol."
"Before the President takes his oath, I will sing. She will sing after. The moment will be magical. For those who have something negative to say, I urge you to keep it to yourself. Don't attack my friend, who is here for the same reason as I am to inaugurate the 47th President of the United States."
Earlier this week, Underwood, who has generally kept quiet about her political views, confirmed her participation.
"I am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and be a part of this historic event," Underwood stated. "I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and look to the future."
While some criticized her, others were quick to offer their support.
T.J. Holmes stated on the "Amy & T.J." podcast last week that many people are divided on her participation in the inauguration, but he believes it's an American event that should be celebrated regardless of the president's policies or personality.
Amy Robach agreed with Carrie Underwood's decision and praised her voice, stating that she eagerly anticipates hearing it.
Greenwood, who has previously performed at Trump-related events such as the 2017 inauguration and the 2024 Republican National Convention, stated that it is a "great privilege" to be performing at such a significant event.
"Thousands of people would have loved to be in Washington, D.C., to witness this live. However, only a select few will have the privilege of being on stage with him."
Greenwood expressed excitement for what the future holds in the next four years.
"We have confidence in you, President Trump, that you will be a peacemaker in the next four years, as I spoke to you at Mar-a-Lago. You will change the way the world thinks about America, and we are all on board with MAGA and Making America Great Again. Our families have a history of respecting and using the military wisely, and we appreciate your commitment to doing the same. Thank you for all that you will do for us, and we stand with you as citizens of America."
The Village People and Greenwood will perform at Trump's presidential inauguration events.
